I've never got one, and neither has my fiancee, who bought an EL. I just leave the booklet explaining the program in the glove compartment, since it has the phone # to call for help.

I do the same thing. It would be so much nicer to have a wallet card or even phone number on a remote.

You really need to call Acura Assistance to get a card. It took me almost 4 months to get one (not what I'd call TLC).

I wonder if that depends on the dealer.... my card came to me after a few weeks automagically.

I did not get a card either, however my dealer gave me 2 material keychain holders with the dealers and road assistance telephone # on it. I think this is sufficient.

Hi I have also seen one of these cars in my parking lot. looked like an accord. I thought some accord guy fixed Acura logo.. but I was surprised to see an EL embossed on the back.. which year did it come????

Acura EL...

I saw a bunch of ELs when I went to Niagara this summer, and I thought it looked more like a Civic.

WRT the TLC card, got mine in the mail a couple of weeks after I picked up my car. That's back in August of 99 so I could be off by a week or so. Anyway, maybe those dealers up in Ontario aren't doing their job very well????

It is a Civic. They didn't even dress it up enough to try to make it an Acura. Just slapped on an emblem.

This is the sort of stuff Acura does to diminish it's status. Oops, sorry, wrong thread.

Well, do no judge the car just by the way it looks from the outside. It is under the skin of TL what makes a big difference comparing to CIVIC. It absolutely deserves its Acura emblem.

But to remain in the right subject, it does not look like we Canadians are supposed to get the card.

Eh, you don't need the card, just the phone number and your VIN.

I was speaking of the EL, not the TL that is a rebadged Civic.

If that's what you are referring to, maybe you can enlighten me since I haven't read anything about it, but I have seen a couple up close.

From the outside and inside, it looks just like a Civic. The engine is the same (1.8L). So what differentiates the 1.8EL from the Civic?

I know the TL is based on the Accord, but there are significant differences between the two to set them apart.

Different engines (3.0 vs 3.2)
Different body panels
different interior
more soundproofing
different stereo
HIDs
NAVI option

I'm sure there's more, but I think I made my point.

No disrespect intended to the EL, but if is truly is just a rebadged Civic, it goes to the problem of Acura diluting their name.

I am sorry for my typo, I meant EL. It does have more soundproofing than CIVIC and to keep the message short here is the link for details:

…and one more:

Thanks for posting the links.

It does seem upgraded over the Civic. IMO, they should have have changed the exterior more to differentiate it from the Civic.
