Acura / Honda has somethig to hide?!?
It's me again...
I went searching for TSBs on the net and found the disturbing message below. To date my problems include:
- slipping/jerky transmission beginning at 10,000 miles
- squeaks, creaks, rattles and buzzes
- rotors resurfaced at 14,000 miles and due again at 19,500 now
- steering wheel wobble at speed (65-75 MPH) that cannot seem to be fixed with any ammount of balancing and/or tire rotating
Anyway, searching for TSBs netted the following note, which makes me wonder if Honda of America is trying to hide something:
"IMPORTANT NOTICE
American Honda Motor Company has requested ALLDATA to deny access to Acura and Honda repair information. Effective immediately you will not be able to register for access to Acura or Honda vehicle repair information, technical service bulletins or recalls.
All comments should be directed to:
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
P. O. Box 2206
700 Van Ness Ave.
Torrance, CA 90501
Honda: 800-999-1009
Acura: 800-382-2238
ALLDATA is currently negotiating with the manufacturer to resume providing this information. At this time we cannot estimate when this will occur. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you."

Saw that note and wondered the same thing.
From their standpoint: I'm sure nobody likes their laundry, dirty or otherwise, to be on public display. Now the consumer often knows more about the issues than the people hired to fix them.
Personally, I think it's great that all this info has been available on-line. They sold the vehicles to the public and the public has a right to know. It goes with the territory.

I agree, this is B.S. In this day and age when consumers are making use of the 'net' for all kinds of car info. this is a giant step backwards for Honda.
Lets all write in to Honda about how we feel about them witholding recalls and TS bulletins from ALLDATA on a new thread and we can forward the response to American Honda Co.

In the meantime, if you can't get the info through alldata, try www.nhtsa.gov instead. You will find an extensive listing of TSB's for all makes and models, including a few for current gen TL's.

Guys...Seriously, Let's do this...I mean, maybe we can get free cars out of this...Cars that pass quality control with flying colors, and no friggin flaws...Is that too much to ask??? Let's get a collection of letters and send it to ACURA, and tell them to get off their asses, and start making some quality cars...
