Acura Corporate Customer Service

I called Acura to see when or if I would be recieving the recall notice and during my discussion I noticed that they had my address wrong. It is the same address that I got mail at for the first year after I bought my car. I haven't moved but for some reason they now have a different address. I asked them when I could expect the notice. She told me that they were mailing them out from June 2004 to June 2005. By the time my car gets to June 2005 I will have 100K miles. I told her that I had hard down shifts on occation and the the I had delayed shifts occationally. She told me that there are no warning signs and that the only thing that wound qualify would be a "locked transmission". I then asked her what to do and she said that as long as it doesn't LOCK-UP it is fine but if I really wanted to I could take it in for an inspection. Can you believe this! Ah don't worry about it until it locks up. Nevermind the fact that it could lock up at 90mph and kill myself and possibly other. I relize that this is just the customer service and not mecanics but they should be properly imformed.

I took my TL in late July 2004 to get that jet kit installed and I didn't even get a notice, and I still haven't got my notice from Acura. So if you are talking about the oil jet kit I don't think you need to present your notice to the Acura dealership to get the kit installed. I just took my car out to the dealer and they checked to VIN to see if the car was a recalled vehicle and when it came up as a recalled vehicle they told me, and I just left the car with them to install the kit.

first off dont listen to her. bring the car to the dealer and let them know about the shifts. you dont need the recall in your hadn to go down there. your vin is in the system and if your car qualifies they will do the work. BUT the recall part IS NOT for the part that 99.9% of us on this board have had fail! so regaurdless if your tranny has the oil jet kit or not its probably going to fail. (i had 3 go) just set up an appt to have it looked at. if the tech can see that there is a prob while driving, or with the fluid he will recomend a tranny replacement

I took my 02tl for the kit 2 months ago or so, i did not have any recall notice letter. I just told them that i saw it on the net that this kit was available and that my car may not have had it done (since i bougth it on feb). then they inspect it and installed it for me free of charge. Also, i just received my notice in the mail last week. o well, got it anyways.

Recall

Come on guys this is not rocket science or a third world country or an MP3 player. It's a car and car campanies have every VIN on file and dealers know who's eligible or not.

What sort of difference would I notice in the trany fluid if there was a problem. I had the tranny fluid changed at 75K at Valvoline. It was dark brown (very dark) compared to other cars that I have had.
