Acura bought my car back!

Acura bought my car back!
Actually they gave me several thousand more than it was worth and a new 2002 TL Type S w/Navi at cost after the transmission blew. I had many problems with the 2000 TL and at 50,000 miles the tranny went.
Acura actually paid my dealer to help me. Their reason was that over the two years I owned the car it was in the shop 8% of the time so they gave me compensation based on that. I guess they really do want to make an effort.
The 2002 has 6000 miles on it and so far the only problems are warped rotors and chipped paint. I had the rotors replace or turned on my 2000 three times.
Hey, Mr. Hyde, how have you been?

BTW, I am having tranny troubles but not failures. The car seems to go in and out of gear around 45mph. I think it is the lock-up on the torque converter but not a failure. My 2000 didn't do this so it is a concern to me. The dealer states that it is normal, but again he can't explain why my 2000 did not do it.
I also want to add that when I went to pick up some touch up paint from the dealer there was another 2002 owner that just had is entire front clip painted because of bad/chipped paint. I don't know how bad the chips looked but the paint job was horrible, it was obvious that it had been painted which will undoubtedly reduce the value when he tries to sell it. I'll stick with my chips. I have the diamond white pearl and he had the blue pearl(not sure what it's called).

Thanks Ruski, at least I'm not alone. I can say that it has nothing to do with failures because as I stated my 2000 did not do it. I guess I shouldn't be that worried about it.

Tranny hiccup...
I've had that same "tranny hiccup" occur to me from day one as well... I bought a new 2002 TLS in March OF THIS YEAR (2002). I noticed this phenomenon from day one and have tried to ignore it.
It always happens with very light throttle and whenever the RPM is around 1500. It's like it just can't make up it's mind which gear to be in. It's smooth as silk if I punch it at that point, This car/tranny wants to be revved a bit, I guess. I suppose the torque convertor locking and unlocking makes as much sense as any explanation.
It's definitely a nuisance! And with the tranny paranoia, I find it harder and harder to ignore. It's like I keep thinking that it's happening more and more often now, but I'm not sure if it's just my paranoia?
Another nuisance that seems to be common, is the sudden little nudge forward when setting at the stop light. My wife has been driving it for the last few weeks, and complained to me about this effect. She said she is paranoid to drive the NEW CAR and hates it when people ride up on her A$$. Then she said that she keeps feeling like someone has bumped her from behind while waiting at a light... This is familiar to most of us as well.
Acura needs to improve their engineering before letting this many "bugs" hit the production line and the sales floors!

Tranny Troubles
All,
I had my tranny replaced at 35,500 miles. They put a new one in at that time. My old one was doing that 1500 rpm, 45MPH dance from day one. Then it started slipping big time. You'd step on the gas and it would race then drop into gear, or you'd be crusing and decide to pass someone or gun it and it would rev to the limiter and then when you backed off it would drop into gear. When I first got the car, the 2nd to 3rd shift was slow both in full auto and using the sport stick. Now the shift is crisp and quick. They definitely changed something in the new tranny.
If your tranny is starting to slip take it in and complain. It might take a few visits but I'm sure you'll get it replaced.

Acura TLS are SLOW
southbound
That "Nudge forward" is ir AC compressor kicking in and out. My car does the same when im stopped. But i dunno if it have it or not but in the morning when i start my car, the AC compressor grinds. i should take it to the dealer to get that fix huh?

The "jump foward" is the AC compressor and the engine trying to manage the power output of the car. That surge is just the split second before the car regulates the exact power needed by the engine. Its not a design flaw, most cars do it. My old VW Passat and Toyota celica both did it.
My cousins BMW did it, my moms mercury sable does it. It may be a little more pronounced in some cars than other, but they all do it.
