99 Tl Amp Sub Wire Up Help

Hi guys,

I recently got an aftermarket head unit , aftermarket amps & subs installed in my 99 3.2 TL from best buy in secaucus, NJ.

the tech there said there was no way of wiring the aftermarket HU to the stock amp and subs since the bose system requires two wiring harnesses. I had a set of aftermarket amps and subs in the trunk (still in the box) ... so i told him to wire up the new HU to the new amp and subs...

After reading so many posts on Acurazine, i realized this guy is not well informed and did the easiest thing possible... this sucks for me becuase i have my bose amp and subs sitting like dead weight in my car.

Im in the NNJ area and am now wondering if there is anybody on this forum that would be willing to wire the aftermarket HU to both my stock amp& subs AND my after market set.

I now know its doable but I do not have the time nor the knowledge to do this setup. I also read on this forum there are so many shady audio shops in the NNJ area...I already shelled out 200 bux in install at best buy... so i cant do that again....ofcourse i would pay you for your work but im on a budget here!

anyone willing to help?

-SAL

with the aftermarket stuff hooked up the stock setup will be pointless. Take the sub out of the rear deck to aid in sound from the aftermarket subs and reduce rattle.

Ive seen cars with more than one sub in the trunk , i was trying to go for a stronger punch, i figure having both the factory subs and the aftermarket subs hooked up would sound incredible.

No. That would be very pointless. Your going to get the best sound out of the after market stuff as long as its high quality equipment. The stock system is already amazing but I totally understand why you want some more hard hitting base. That bose sub doesn't hit has hard as most of us would like.

How would that be pointless? having two sets of subs hitting at the same time should sound even better. I agree aftermarket hits harder, but i want them both to be working at the same time.

Try and think of it like listening to the radio through a $10 set of headphones and through your car's stereo at the same time. The headphones cant outperform the car in any way. Similar to running the stock sub with a decent after market setup, you will never even notice its on.

There are two ways to do it with subs... Get an amp that has a Hi and Low input sets and run wires from the the speakers to the sub and just run the wiring for the power as normal. I had to do this with my 95 Legend.

or..

Replace the deck and use the RCA cable but you loose your bose system completely. You have to bypass the amp. Bose speakers run on 2 Ohm and most aftermarket speakers run on 4 Ohm so they aren't compatable. There is one company that slips my mind that does make 2 ohm speakers but honestly its not worth the hasle of trying to get it to work.
