99-01 Projector Fogs w/ 3000k

Had audi tt headlight sitting around for a while and decided to use the projectors from it to make some fog lights. Snapped these pics quickly sorry if theyre not the best.

And this is the only pic i have so far of how they look in the bumper. Still mocking it up

I'm very happy with how they turned out. Let me know what you think!

ThreePointTwoTeeEl 01-19-2010 02:46 PM

Looks very good. When you can, post up close up pics of how you mounted the fog lights.

JterrorC 01-19-2010 04:56 PM

get som shrouds for it..looks like autozone fogs...but great light output nonetheless

TequiLa 01-19-2010 05:40 PM

^he said they're from a TT

nhn23 01-19-2010 05:43 PM

your cluster is nice. did you do it yourself? and +1 on how you mounted the lights

AZN.M3NACE 01-19-2010 05:44 PM

ooo cluster looks hott haha. i gotta find someone locally to do it for me...

Srb 01-19-2010 08:29 PM

Ha thanks. I made the cluster using Phee's diy.
Only have one picture of the back and it's not a good one but i'll post it anyway. I mounted the projector on a piece of lexan and then screwed the lexan piece onto the bumper. Hard to see it all because i was adjusting the height of the beams at the time. Sorry:tomato: i'll see if i can get a hold of some other pics of the projector mounted on the lexan piece.

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/8572/backnq.jpg

The picture shows only the projector, i later covered the projector using the high beam housing/reflector (not sure what it's called) from the headlight and sealed everything up with rubber tape and silicone.

hANDYcaptd 01-19-2010 09:13 PM

That looks nice! Not worried about rocks hitting the lense?

Srb 01-19-2010 09:43 PM

Nah i cut out another piece of lexan and glued it to the bumper from the front. You can kind of see it in the 5th picture on the first post.

jaMezBOI 01-19-2010 10:28 PM

WOW....very nice light output. Good job!

'03TL-S 01-19-2010 10:58 PM

That output is crazy!

mlrskn06 01-19-2010 11:05 PM

wow looks sick did it take very long at all?

TLin401 01-20-2010 12:13 AM

:what:

A cutoff for the fogs, that is crazy!

The light output, that is crazy!

The ghetto rig, that is crazy!

Overall setup, that is crazy!!

Srb 01-20-2010 12:35 AM

Thanks for the comments! Time it took? It took a WHILE :tomato:. It was a trial and error process. Everything was angled weird on the bumper so i had to keep redoing some things. I was going to make a diy on it but with the parts that i used being so specific i figured it wouldnt be very beneficial. And it would have been very hard to describe everything as well.

The time and frustration was worth it in the end. I have projector fogs :toocool:

-Vip3r- 01-20-2010 01:21 AM

dude i love it!!! and your gauges

xtremex626 01-20-2010 03:37 AM

awesome.. those are pretty damn bright fogs.. i love your guages btw

phee 01-20-2010 10:16 AM

if anyone wants to do this you can buy the tiburon fog lights. no need to get TT headlights. looks awesome SRB. wanna do mine?

ChangBanger 01-20-2010 06:20 PM

Mine are yellow-er IMO. :toocool: (And a much easier install )
Honestly, these pics don't do it justice they have a great beam even without shrouds. They look sexy on the highway too IMO. Took you long enough though lol.

Do you have HID's or yellow halogen bulbs? yellow halogen bulbs appear more yellow, but the HID output is higher.

No I don't have yellow halogen bulbs and yes I know HID output is higher... I have ES300 Projector fogs that have yellow glass lenses with a 5000k HID kit I had laying around. They will be even yellow-er once I get around to ordering some 3000k bulbs.

edeekeos 01-21-2010 12:00 AM

i am extremely interested in seeing how this all went together. i have wanting to attempt this for quite some time. please if you can get a few more pics. :p

i would pay good for this install. they look stunning!

ChangBanger 01-21-2010 04:20 AM

Srb, you didn't have a pic of the cut-off... So I uploaded the one from my phone.

Just as a reference, the trashcan was probably less than 5ft away? (If I can remember correctly)

bruistopher 01-21-2010 08:01 AM

Its good to see the 99-01 having custom fogs. I wish they made them stock back then because I could never understood how the first gen TL's had fogs in the headlights themselves iirc!

02-03 mods on fogs was getting somewhat stale. But again good to see 99-01 with custom fogs! This is neat, especially with projectors. The cut-off line is awesome!

how would you do this? i wanna get some fogs on my cl

MrFluffy 01-26-2010 09:31 PM

Looks really good did you just use one tt headlight?

Srb 01-27-2010 01:20 AM

I'll try to get more pictures sent to me to give you an idea of how theyre mounted. Cutting the subframe was still necessary in case anyones wondering.

I used two tt headlights. I used the smaller projector from each light which i think was just used as the DRLs. I had one free headlight laying around which was like new and i bought another from a salvage yard for 20 bucks (plus 15 for shipping:tomato:).

If your wanting to do it in your cl like changbanger, his set up was pretty easy to fit. He scored some jdm ES300 projector fogs that were already housed and pretty cheap from a member on here. If youre interested in more details on his install contact him.

Psh, you did half the work. But you are right, my setup took very very very little time in comparison to Srb's. But Srb's does project farther, but mine are yellow-er (Yes they are Srb). lol :toocool:

Ep3moschini 01-27-2010 06:06 AM

can you take some day time pictures with them not on. . .

Srb 01-27-2010 03:37 PM

Do these work? It was drizzling a little

Great job with your fogs

ChangBanger 01-27-2010 06:26 PM

Srb, how does it feel to not be able to park in the garage anymore? Spoiled punk. lol

'02_TL-S 01-27-2010 09:45 PM

Nice! I'm working on the same deal with my fog lights but with 5000k plus a TSX retro with my headlights...I'm gonna light up those crackheads on the side of the road, as CJITTY said once, no prob
Nice cluster :toocool:

What HID kit are you using? 5k I know but brand wise?

Seems to be a lot of choices some better then others I assume

As far as wiring up, u spliced the bulbs to the kit and the kit to the switch/power or did you tap into side markers etc?

Looks legit and factory

 about your wiring. I would use a relay harness to draw power directly from the battery and wire up a fog light button to the cabin so you can control it. I wouldn't try and draw all that power from the sidemarkers  Unless you meant trigger wire from sidemarker which would make the fogs turn on with the sidemarkers.
