It ('00) will probably have more miles (KM) on it then the '99. But yes I agree I like the idea of the 5-spd better than the 4.

why is the 5 speed better? the 4 and 5 speed have their fare share of failures, actualy the 5 having more reported failures. The five speed gets better gas mileage, the 4 speed can hold 3rd till 125 and not die at 90 mph like the 4 speed when it hits 4th. and i can hold 1st with the 4 speed. Either way both have ups and downs.

99TL = 4 speed, 00+ TL = 5 speed. Its pretty stupid that you don't have control of 1st gear in SS on the 5speed TLs. Also the 5 speed Trans has more failures but they do have extended 100k/7 yrs warranty. You get about 2 mpg on avg on 5 speed and its quieter on the highway. The 00+ have side air bags, but from what I heard, the leather area where the side air bag cracks easily because its so thin. Also the 00+ TL comes with DVD Navi vs the Harddisc Navi for 99TL. Either way its a nice car. You should look for pricing, milage, etc. and consider 99-03 TLs.

The five-speed gives you 1mpg better gas mileage and is 0.5 seconds faster 0-60. People keep harping on "holding first gear" but who the hell cares if the five speed is noticeably faster!!!!!

00+ has a quieter ride, and the wiring in the electronics are a lot better, the 00+ tl is more defined and has less bugs than the 99tl. the 99tl does have a stronger tranny, but the 00+ has a tranny which handles more speed. the type S was introduces in 2000. the same tranny is in the tl and the tl-s.

Well it came out in 2001......so if he had said introduced in 2001, I would have given him credit, but yes its a 2002 model that began the Type-S for the TL.

Umm lets see.
00+ quieter ride....well you got that right because I did post that before you, if you scroll up, you see that.

wiring in the electronics a lot better? huh? you wanna elaborate?

00+ TL has less bugs then the 99TL? I drive a 1999TL, what bugs?

00+ has a tranny which handles more speed? Last time I checked top speed for 99 and 00 TL is 160. How is the 5 speed handling more speed then the 4 speed? You saying I can't take my car up to 151mpg because it has a 4 speed instead of a 5 speed?

2002 Type-S TL was introduced in mid 2001, not 2000.

The appropriate questions is......care to prove yourself right?

Ok...My mom has a 99 TL my uncle has a 00 TL and i have a 02 TL-S.

What i can tell you is get the 00 instead of the 99. Aside from the obvious 4 speed and 5 speed transmission. There is "small" things that they improved.

99, has more noise...squeak/rattle
99, window motor is louder, and the 00 motor is quiter (I would say around 3 times louder)
99 blinker relay has a louder "CLICKING" sound compared to 00 which they used a quieter relay. (Annoying Loud)

And there is some other small stuff that not significant, but for some reason i notice it.

99, the black plastic piece around the shift gate is closer to the back edge of the console... I guess dirt particals where getting trapped under/near the black plasitc piece that it was damaging the surface. Then they decided to move it up a bit, so it was farther from the edge.

There is alot of changes they make, but to the consumer, we don't see them. When the 02 TL came out...Acura announced they made 500+ changes. From a 01 to a 02 with 500+ changes...What did they change? Grille, Lights, Hood, Fogs, Bumper, Rims, Mirror, Tilt Mirror, Tint Mirror???? What else? So there is a lot of stuff they change, but we just don't know it.

After driving all three cars, I would personally not get a 99. Just dish out the extra couple of grand and do it right, get a 00.

The 99 probably is out of warranty, and the 00 may still have it *depending on milage*, so if you find out something that is not right, u can still bring it to the dealers.

Ok, to elaborate on what I have said before, the ride is not as loud meaning that while driving the amount of outside nose is less than the 99tl. I said the wiring was better because I recently had a wiring problem in the park lights in my 99tl, I looked at the schematics for the entrie car, then I looked at the electronics on the 2000 tl and there are less loops and connectors which means less chance of a bad connection or something going wrong. I also said that the 2000tl tranny handles more speed than the 99tl because the 2000 tl has a 5 speed tranny, and also the gear ratio is diffrent. I was wrong for saying that the type S was introduced in 2000, but infact they were introduced in 2001 for the 2002 models. But the type S tl and the tl both has the same tranny. I didn't mean for this to open such a big can of worms, but it's good to see that all of you know about the the car you drive.
