Be careful. You can definitely burn your wiring harness! I put 80W bulbs on a 2000 Galant and burned the wiring harness to a crisp!!

Egads.. Yeah you are in dangerous territory there..
HEat is another problem..

Neighbor's Infiniti I-30, he put big wattage bulbs
in his fogs.. I told him not too!

But he at least listened to me enuff to buy a wiring
harness kit. The extra thick stuff with a good fuse.

Well, that was still not enuff. Because the heat built
up in the housing to the point that the Mirror coating
in the housing burned up. It either shattered or
turned white yellow color.. And the bulb exploded
inside the housing. Totally trashing the lamp.

On the other side the lamp got so hot, that the glass
actually deformed a little bit on the bulb. So it
was getting ready to pop as well..

If you run these higher wattage bulbs you are risking
a car fire if that wiring isn't up to snuff...

Better safe than sorry!

Stock..since the whole damn thing is designed to handle such voltage (55w) or less...when you put higher voltage in, you're playing with fire..Instead of getting higher voltage bulbs, why not just get the cheap tinted one. Granted that it doesn't give much light output, however, it gives a blueish appearance..which is what most wants anyways. And as for light output, your HID headlight is more than enough.

Hey when they burn, invite us all over for your

CAR-b-Que

no seriously good look, but keep an eye on them.
Prolly a good idea to turn them on let them run for
10 to 15 minutes, and feel the wiring going to them.
If the wires are getting hot. E-mail us quick so
we can all come watch the car-b-que. If they
stay cool.. You will still probably want to check
your fuse boxes for heat.

I've had the Naxos Blues (80w) for about a week now and they look great. They are a little whiter than the heads but hopefully my new Phillips will take care of that problem.

I let them run for about 30 min and checked the wire, seems to be ok.

SilverStars suck! Do a search on them. They are well marketed, but aren't any better than cheaper bulbs. I compared them to a set of PIAA's and there was no comparison.

I have Silverstars...and they're pathetic...I bought into the hype and am paying for it now...it takes them 15 minutes to warm up from a solid yellow to a whitish yellow...ugh.

Well I figure they'll be much better then the stock replacements I'll be getting. Plus it would be nice to have bulb replacements that you can buy over the counter and not be forced to get them in pairs. All I need now is to get me a set of Silverstars 9005 and I'll be set.

So Austin...Where do you want me to send the check

Hmmm, I installed the SilverStars on my Ford Sport Trac and the difference was very noticeable and MUCH whiter than stock. I have been intending to get these for the 03 TLS as well so I parked the two vehicles side by side to compare stock fogs & high beams of the TLS to the Silverstar equipped ST. The ST's were significantly whiter than the stock TLS fogs & high beams. Another member here (pianoman41) did a great write-up with pics on the SilverStars vs. Stock including pictures. The comparison pics seem to tell a very convincing story in favor of the Silver STars. Granted they may not be the absolute best, but they seem to be very good!

See the link below.

If you're really interested in buying these I will sell them to you...but I'm serious man...you won't be happy. I want some Plasmas or SuperWhites or something. These bulbs look worse than stock while they're heating up (15 mins) then a little better than stock once hot. Oh yeah...they cool off in under 3 minutes...so if you park and run into a store, or pump gas, or anything...they're back to a glowing yellow. But I may be putting them in For Sale soon...so look there .

Hmm...if you really want whiter looking bulbs then dont go for the Superwhites since they are rated to spit out 3800k which is in fact lower than the Silverstars @ 4000k. The plasma @5000k or the Xtreme White @4150k might be a better fit for you but whiter bulbs generally dont last as long, so thats the tradeoff.

If you dont like them I'll still gladly take them off your hands since I'm convinced in pianomans post in silverstar comparisons vs the stock bulbs. I just cant justify spending too much on bulbs thats why I jumped on yours. I'm just a little dissapointed that you dont like em.

The superwhites are whiter than the Silverstars, Sylvania is lying lying, lying, lying, lying, lying about the color temperature. And it looks NOTHING like it does on their website. Pianoman must have had an exceptional set, I have seen nothing but bad reviews, and personal bad experience with them. When you get them wear blue tinted glasses, they will look better.

I have the silverStars in my wife's car. And it IS an improvement over the stock. But for being the perfect white color that we want to match with the real HIDs, forget it, you will never get any of those HIDs to match..

I have seen some out there that were not exactly a match, but they were very bright surprisingly..

Some bulbs that I have seen in real life that do look nice, are the RAZO bulbs, they do cast a nicer whiter light than the silverStars.. but they are about double the price of the silverStars..

JUST BE HAPPY YOU GUYS HAVE FOG LIGHTS!!!

personally, I love the look of Ion Yellow fogs to contrast with the HIDs..

Tell you who you need to talk to is jyang411. He has some higher wattage bulbs that match the stock HIDs PERFECTLY and he said he got them for $20. I will be getting those bulbs soon. They are higher wattage but he hasn't had a problem with the stock wiring, nor have other people running them in other cars.

I guess its like when people were telling me I couldnt have a 25mm rear sway bar. Anyways, I'm all ears Austin. I'll just wait till you get yours first since I dont even have my car yet. I'm just worried that it wont hold up on the 10 hour road trip I'm planning to vegas. Daily driving this may be true...but what about leaving them on for extended periods of time?

Hey Austin, wanna take a look at these? Road Rage recommended them and they run @ 4200k = $18 a bulb

Heh I'll tell you honestly...if Road Rage recommends it I'd try em out . Ha ha ha. Honestly though I don't know. I couldn't tell you just by looking at the pictures. What I can say though, is that Jason's lights are extremely bright and a dead on match. And he's taken plenty of road trips with no burn out. Unless those bulbs are a higher wattage as well, I'd still go with the ones he has. I'm worried that you're gonna have less light output with a higher temp bulb with the same wattage...because that's what usually has to happen with a higher color temp bulb.

Oh and I forgot to say, I can test those that jyang411 has when I take my quarterly trips from TX to AL...that's a good 10 hour drive. But he makes 2.5 hour trips to Houston with no trouble, and once you get up to that length of time you'd see burnout if it was going to happen.

Also...I have my race bar sitting on my floor now . Want to give me a quick how-to and tell me how long the whole thing will take? I don't even have to remove the wheels do I? Just jack it up on jackstands...remove the stock bushings and unscrew the ends, and put the new stuff on with Teflon tape and goo where the bushing hits the bar? Do I do that for both the front and back or just the back? Blah blah blah My email is Austin519@aol.com, or you can get me on AIM as Austin519.

OK, I'm brave enough to go 80 watts on the fogs since the stocks are rated at 51 and going to 80 will be a 56.9% wattage increase which most people here say have tried and worked. How about the 9005 highs then? The higher wattage ones run at 100watts and jumping from a 60watt OEM to the 100 is a staggering 66.7% increase. Have any of you guys tried 100s on the 9005 highbeams?

As for the rear bar, its a simple plug and play. If you are skinny enough, you might not even have to jack the car up at all. The most important factor is that you make sure the wheels at the opposite sides are completely level since you'd have to be an incredible hulk if you are going to install sways with one side of the car jacked up and not the other. Teflon tape? didnt come with one...instead its a super slimy gue so i suggest you wear surgical gloves since getting it off your hands later will be a bi@tch. Rear bar is easy, it's the front one that you have to worry about. Once you look underneath you'll understand. Oh and you dont have to do anything to the front since you'll be using the stock rubber bushings again and that doesnt make any noise like the polyeurethane ones. Whenever you hear people complain about squeeky sways, you know they are talking about the rear bushings. Oh I almost forgot.

PICS PICS PICS!

My Solaris 9005's are only 81W I believe...I will probably sell them and upgrade the wiring harnesses to get some 120W bulbs or so...that'll be once I get the 6000k bulbs all around. Until then...the Solaris's are plenty bright.

Hmmm glad to hear about the bars...
"If you are skinny enough, you might not even have to jack the car up at all."
Heh oh well...I throw shotput and play football...I guess that's out...16" jackstands here I come .

I will definitely post pics . But wait...so I don't have to put any of that goo on the front bushings? Just the rear and that's it? Good! I hope that's true. I'll definitely grab some gloves or something...thanks for the advice. I have a paintbrush...I may go that route instead.

Woohoo! Oh and sorry I know this has nothing to do with fog lights
