They are HIDs like our headlights except it is a lot brighter. Our HIDs burn at 4200K while the other one burns at 6000K. It has more of a bluer tint to it.

If you compare our HIDs to the 6000K HIDs side by side, it will make our HIDs look like regular halogen lights (regular lights).

Autolamps have them for $290 a pair. Since our cars already have the ballast, all you need to do is unplug the OEM HIDs and plug in the 6000K HIDs.

6000k's are a must. Totally worth it . Heres a pic a my ride with 6000k's with my custom yellow fogs. The 6000ks look more purple than the pic shows.

Any HID equiped car can switch HID bulbs, just goto Autolamps-online.com and order the Phillips Ultinon 6000K D2R bulb.

Note you will need a security socket remover in order to remover the old HID bulb.

And one other thing 6000K refers to the scale of color temperature or hue not brightness.

TRUE!!!

D2R is for our HID and D2S is for projector type HID, like BMW, S2000. D2S will also fit with little modification and has more purplish color.

Hey all....I am a former TL owner so I "lurk" around quite a bit. I know a lot of you like the look of the more purple lights on the Audis and BMW's. Take a look at these pics comparing the stock S4 bulbs to 6K bulbs from hid4less.com. They are amazing!!! I will be getting a set shortly for my S4. You can really tell the difference in these pics. Be sure to buy the from Tim if he offers them though Hopefully you guys will get the same performance out of 6k bulbs.

When I had my TL I used to always say to myself that I liked the way the Audi HIDs looked......now I'm like "I need to get my hands (no finger prints of course ) on some 6K bulbs b/c the stock HID's look like shi_ compared to them.

6000K are awesome, but are about the limit. As you get higher up your light output is lessened and their practicality is diminished. The light output becomes more purplish, but that won't help with night driving if you have less light on the road.
There are people with 8000K and 12000K HIDs, and the light output is visibly less in pics.

Cheapest place to buy them?

Hey, I was wondering where I could find the cheapest prices on 6000K upgrades (like the Philips bulbs). So far the cheapest I've seen is something around 290...anyone seen anything lower?

Thanks.

Nothing..... I was just thinking it's not good idea to buy used HID bulbs those are so sensitive and would not know how previouse user took care of them!!

I would pay some extra $$ to get brand new Tube Sealed HID bulbs.

That's all.

Don't get me wrong either. I would rather buy a brand new one than a used one.

6000k bulbs

BMW74,
Your sample comparison demo will speak and sell for itself.
You have easily convinced anyone just curious about it.
Ill get my hands on those in the very near future.

i just want to add that the 8000 k and 12000 k hid's are not because of a different bulb. Its a kid made by hidkits.com and its just a variable output transformer which is pushing the bulbs to its limits by inducing a higher voltage output. I cant recommend doing this because the bulb was not designed for this kind of voltage and may shorten its life span. For anyone that maybe thinking of doing this you will have to swap out the ballast aka transformer from the tl and use there kit which cost about 500 bucks.

I know exaclty what you are saying. This is another Audi pic, but the car on the right has 10K bulbs and the car on the left has 6K bulbs....Can you say Carolina Blue?
