4SPD or 5SPD?

I have decided to sell the Mazda Millinea and buy a TL. My MDX is a 2002 and it seems that they also have the tranny problem. I have been lucky so far, thank God, and not had any trouble with it..

I would like to know if I should buy 2000+ with the 5SPD or a 1999 with 4SPD transmission?

Which is smoother and faster? Both city driving and highway.

Thank You again.

4spd is better in terms of reliability, but 5spd is obviously better in terms of everything else (smoother faster more efficient etc). so i'd go with a reliable 5 speed if possible.

You're comparing cow piss to dog piss. They both have awful reliability records, but the 4-speed is probably a little better.

get a 2000+ with the tranny already replaced..... 5 speed will obviously be better and with the upgraded tranny you should most likely have no problems. I know maany members here have been on their 3rd of 4th but thats just a select few.
