480$ for 50k tuneup??
i am getting my car ready for winter. Ever since i bought it, it hasn't gotten any major service done beside changing oil every 5k miles.
Dealer quoted a price of 480 usd to do maintainence on my car at about 52k miles, seem a little high.
is it a fair price, can I get it cheaper?
oh, and damn nyc pothole , got 2 bubble and the bridgestone blizzek cost $134 from tirerack.com haha. oh well, might as well do everything now

Dealer service is mostly fluff and very little substance- check the basics:
-Oil Change
-trans fluid
-coolant drain/ fill
And this is only if coolant and transmission fluid needs changing- the rest is the 'inspection'- that is PURE DEALER PROFIT.
These cars don't need much upkeep. Save some money!

honestly i don't know exactly what they were going to do, i stop by the dealership because I was on my way to go get some new tires. I just stop by and ask how much to do maintence on my car at 52k miles and was quoted that price. They did mention oil, tranmission coolant and a few other things. It was late and they were closing up so i didn't get into deatil, after hearing the price , that was enough for me anyay. I figure that 480$ is steep. i'll call tomorrow to find out exactly what is included.
I figure I asked here first and get advice because i do know that dealer charge more.
Can you all believe that mavix discount tires don't carry any bridgestone blizzek , just my luck.
Thank for the help

You're shitting me, right?
I quote Owner Link for the 52,500 mile scheduled maintenance service -->
For normal condition:
Replace engine oil.
Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 264 of your owner's manual.)
For severe condition:
Replace engine oil and filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 264 of your owner's manual.)
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
480 dollars? Ask them if it comes with a lifetime supply of KY. Shops like Tuffy's will do the inspections for FREE.
Unless there had been scheduled maintenance items that were skipped or you haven't done yet and are included, the price is a joke; not even "too high" but a complete joke an insult to your intelligence.
Most dealerships will make up their own scheduled maintenance programs; don't fall for this. All you need to do is the Acura's recommended plan. Ask for an itemized list of the tasks that will be done during this service and decide for yourself which is needed or not.

^^^^^^^^ I agree waste of money. Maybe an oil change, air filter, oil filter, rotate tire, alignment(if needed) coolant exchange, tranny fluid exchange you can get all this done and more at VIP for 280.00 plus new spark plugs, 3 step fuel system cleaning and full inspection.

Thats a rip. Dealers usually charge more to do basic stuff. I remember my escort was due for its 30,000 mile service and Ford wanted to charge $600 just to CHECK everything. Needless to say I went somewhere else.

my friend, you can do the inspections yourself, no big hoopla about it. brakes, is there pad left? just look though the spokes. tie rods and wheels themself, when the change your tires, ask them to see if there is any play in the wheels. maybe your cabin filter, which is kind of a bitch to do b/c you have to take off the glove box, but nothing that 30min of your time and a trip to autozone and spending $20 can't solve. while the oil is draining, they can do 90% of that inspection while they are waiting, takes 10 min.
