3rd Gen 6 Speed Brake Caliper on a 2nd Gen?

I was looking at pictures of the brake calipers of the 3rd Gen in camparison to the 2nd. I noticed that on the 3rd gen automatics, the calipers look exactly like the calipers on the 2nd gen. Assuming that there isn't a difference between the 3rd gen auto and 3rd gen 6 speed except for the trans, would the 3rd gen 6 speed calipers(black with white lettering saying "ACURA") bolt right up to the 2nd gen brake system? Would it cause any problems with the VSA and ABS if the calipers from the 6 speed were able to bolt right up the 2nd? Or better than that, has anyone sucessfully swap the original calipers with the 3rd gen 6 speed?

No they don't bolt right up. You'd have to have custom brackets made.

And I'm not sure if the TypeS wheels would clear the calipers.

The 3rd gen 6 speed cars with summer tires get the front brembo brakes from the factory. Since they are radial mount calipers, they will not clear the 2nd gen factory wheels, but I am sure many aftermarket wheels will clear the calipers.

There is an aftermarket conversion kit for the 2nd gen using the brembo calipers and new rotors - its not cheap, but it will work with the ABS ans such - the factory wheels won't work with those either.

Hope this helps.

The 6MT brakes wont even fit on a 5AT 3rd gen without HEAVY modification. So I'd stay clear. A normal brembo upgrade would cost you less Plus, finding wheels to fit over those massive things is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS

Hmm...ic ic... Thanks for the info, I thought it would be a cheaper alternative to the Brembo big brake system and looks nice and factory. LOL

You would have to run some massively low offset to clear those calipers on a 2G. I'm running 7.5 42+, and when I tried it on my brother's '05 6-speed, the spokes hit the calipers. On a 2G retrofitted with the 3G Brembo calipers (if you even made it that far), you will have to run like 7.5 35+ wheels... which will be basically impossible unless you do a widebody.
