Thumbs up 300hp Acura TL in the works?

i-VTEC in RSX "S" generates 100hp per litre. Take the current TL's 3.2 litres x 100hp/litre =320hp! Any thoughts on the next redesign of the Acura TL?

that would be insane..i was thinking about that earlier........but if you notice, the rsx-s...w/ the 7900 rpm redline.....and the 200hp engine is quite loud at it's top of the hp mark. Which contradicts, imo the reality of a TL. The TL is much more of a luxury sports car.....not loud sports car. Hence, by tuning the 3.2L engine to pull 320hp would require the car to run much louder.

I came across some Honda document a while ago. Basically it stated their goal of high horsepower per liter GREEN image. Honda takes A LOT of pride that almost all their engines are LEV and many are ULEV. It had a graph with the Civic Si, Integra GSR and S2000 engines (basically about 90hp/L then 100hp/L then 120hp/L and a X with a specific output of 125 hp/L).

Only probably with this scenario right now is that all these engines are DOHC. The Honda Engine Plant in Anna doesn't have the machinery to make DOHC engines. With Honda's domestic manfacturing program to cut costs it would only make sense for them to use these 'premium' DOHC VTEC engines in performence cars where the owners like to redline them. The luxury car is all about torque...not 8900 RPM redlines. The current J32A2 has a specific output of 81.7hp/L which is already very high for a naturally aspirated engine of this size.

i think the 320 hp TL is outta the question... Honda isnt gonna make a TL that is comparable in Power output as an NXS. even though the NSX is gonna be redesigned with new engine and new style, with a 320 hp TL they will buy the TL over the NSX. i would think if anytying the TL-Ps will be around 260 and TL-S is gonna be around 300 hp.... with minor changes.

Me personally, I wouldnt mind if they came out with a 320HP TL...It's a good sales tactic, but insurance would be insane for drivers like me...Sure I would buy one, but I dont think I could afford the insurance...Im quite happy with the engine I have now, and im really not concerned with beating or outrunning the typeS or other cars that are faster...My driving record is $hit as of now, and I have a lot of changes to make as a driver...I would scan my insurance record that I got in the mail, but it's really embarrassing...Point is, I dont think that it's all about how fast the car is, I would go for quality over speed any day...You could get a Viper and whoop ass, or you could get an SL with class...Shyne

If the TL-S will ever have 320 HP, I sure hope it will be a RWD sedan. Too much power + FWD is not always a good combination.

you guys with the typeS that have headers/ cai/ are pretty much there add the MM and youre over 320HP!!!!so it wouldnt be unheard of at all..and BTW one of the guys whos father works in ohio honda said they just brought over what ever machine is nessicary to build DOHC engines here

I think anything is possible, the 320HP RWD is not out of the question. The new RL is suppose to be RWD with somewhere around 350 HP. Since TL-S already has more power than the RL and TL-P has the same amount of power as the RL, theoridically, TL and NSX could have the same HP output.

Once Acura adapts the AWD running gear from the MDX to the TL-S, then 320 hp could be a reality. Now I'd buy one of those....

AWD/RWD and more power would be nice, but I think they need to refine the quality... Look at the tranny problems, rattles, ECU bugs...

Guys how about torque, 300lbs of torque that would be a better idea don't you think?

Acura is selling TL's like hotcakes I seriously doubt a RWD version in the future or AWD.

A 300hp TL, I seriously doubt that from the factory, that's what mods are for!
