300 horsepower?

I own a sweet '00, firepepper red, with full spoilers--it looks good, but now I'd like to increase the horsepower past even what a Type-S can do.

If you're on a budget (and who isn't), what would you spend money on first? Air intake? Exhaust? Tires?

The only thing I've done so far is install one of those Tornado air intake boosters. Some difference, but not that much.

Another thing: I've scarred up the front air dam a bit on the bottom--any ideas on refinishing? I've already had the damn dam replaced once!

30hp with headers and 7 hp with intake...

Dont spend money on exhaust.. All it will give you is about 2 hp and more noise...

The CT icebox will get you 10-14, and supposedly the new AEM V2 too.

Don't neglect to consider light weight wheels and or tires. They don't add HP, but the do improve your times. Just ask the guys with headers or intakes that were getting beat.

I am somewhat confused regarding the 30 hp claim for the headers. Is the 30 hp increase for the TL-P, while you only get about 15 for the TL-S? As for 10-14 for the Ice box can any one confirm that?

The number for TLS is typically 30ish for headers and 10+ for IB.

I recall headers is less on the TL/TLPs.

It will be very tough to add ~75 hp on a 2000 TL-P without adding the supercharger or nitrous. The ~30hp to the wheels is only for the TL-S.

Comptech headers will get you about 17hp, Icebox about 10hp, pulleys about 3-5hp, and exhaust about 1-2hp. Keep in mind that those are all peak HP numbers. Like I said above, unless you're going to add the S/C or nitrous, you will have a tough time getting to 300hp on a 2000 TL-P.

Don't forget too that the peak HP numbers on each mod do not necessarily come at the same rpms ... So hypothetically speaking, while you might get 17hp with headers @ 5500rpms, if you get 10hp with the icebox at 6000rpms... you don't have a net gain of 27hp because its not coming at the same rpm range ... So you can't simple say 17hp headers + 10 hp icebox + 2 hp exhaust + 5hp pulleys = 34hp gain ... Thats not really true.

I think the only mod that really gives you a consistent gain across the entire rpm range is the comptech supercharger, and they don't make it for the TL-P I don't think..
