30,000 Mile Maintenance

Hey everyone, I am nearing my 30,000 mile mark and am planing on taking the car to the dealer. My questions are; what will they be doing besides an oil change, how much will it cost me(im assuming its dealer dependent but an approximation would be fine) and does it normally take long enough for me to get a rental.

thanks

The 30K service involves the folllowing:
- Changed oil and oil filter
- Change transmission fluid (3 qt. HONDA ATF)
- Change air filter (upgrade to a K&N)
- Change AC micron filters (Purolator C15390 - Pep Boys $20 for the pair)
- Rotated tires
- Checked front/rear brakes (pads/lines/fluid),
- Inspected tie-rod ends, steering gearbox/boots, suspension conponents and driveshaft boots,
- Checked parking brake, check fluid levels (coolant/brake/windshiled washer), fuel lines and connections, light operation, exhaust system, drive and alternator belts.

Note that there are quite a few items that need to be "inspected or checked". All this takes "time" which the dealer charges $100(+)/hr. Ordered the service manual from Helm (1-800-782-4356 helminc.com) for $69.00 plus shipping /tax ($80.95) - it will take you through everything you need to do. It will take you a weekend morning or afternoon. Record the fact that you did the 30K service (and what you did) in the car's manual.

My 2 cents worth

I skipped the official 30K service on my car. Felt it wasn't worth the $350 for a bunch of visual inspections. I got my oil changed, tires rotated, and tranny fluid flushed for just under $100.

skip it and save your money! just get your oil changed when it needs to be done. the only maintance you need are the tranny fluid changes and the 90-105k (the timing belt and plugs and water pump)
