Question 30,000 check up-INPUT please?? Service menu

Need some input on my 30,000 service. I was able to get the menu for the service and here are the details.

1. Suspension and exhaust inspection
2. Engine oil and filter change
3. Front brake inspection
4. Rear brake inspection
5. Parking break adjustment
6. Brake fluid change
7. Tire Rotation
8. Adjust drive belts
9. Valve adjustment
10. Spark plug replacement
11. Replace air filter
12. Auto trans and Diff fluid change
13. Test battery
14. Interior air filtration change
15. Add BG-MOA oil treatment

Total cost is around $375. What do you think I should get? I really don’t think I need all these services down on a 30,000-mile car. I know dealers tend to be overzealous in service. I was thinking of 1,2,3,4,7,11,14. Manufacturer doesn’t recommend transmission fluid change and brake fluid change till around 60,000-100,000. I figured since we have the new warranty, who cares right? Also what is 5,8,9, and 15 all about. Please some input. Service is tomorrow 01/17/03. Thanks.

I'd do 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 14. I do my own oil and I have an intake.. so that eliminates 2 and 11 for me.

Definitely have the tranny fluid changed. I wouldn't risk voiding that 100k warranty b/c you never changed the tranny oil. You may not care about it b/c you have the warranty, but you'll care when you're without your car for 2 weeks when your tranny goes. Many of the CL guys actually changed their tranny fluid at 15k.

Yep, I'll do most if it, and the few things I don't feel comfortable or have the time to do, I'll have them finish. I was thinking of doing my first tranny fluid change at that time.

Thank goodness it doesn't take the 18 quarts my truck does.

Hmm sounds like crap

The 3.2 has a hydraulic valve train that automaticly adjusts valve lash what exactly are they adjusting? i CANT IMAGINE THEY ARE TEARING THE TOP OF THE ENGINE DOWN FOR $350.OO Sounds like bull crap to me. Ten to one its a $350.00 oil and tranny fluid change. Bastards.

Hope this helps 20yrs in the field tech gets paid 4hrs takes 1hr to do....a lot of money hungry techs out there... but from experiance this is the time to get your car serviced... shops are slow this time of yr. holiday bills 'CC bills'....... tech will take his time on the job since the shop isnt busy...

Steve C:

So, what did you end up getting done? And how much?

I'm at about 30K myself, and I was thinking a lot of this 30K tune-up is over-rated since what they really do is "inspect" or "check", and then they charge you more if they find something 'wrong'.

I was just gonna go in for an oil change and tire rotation. I could check the air filter and belts myself. What do others think - would this would suffice at this stage at 30K?
