2K3 TL/S Tranny Failure at 22800 miles

Hello all:

Add me to the list of tranny failure: here it goes, 2K3 TLS 22,800 miles, build date Dec-02, VIN xxxxxA052277. and I though mine would escape from that affect serial number.

It is happened on Sunday night 7/25/04 on my way to my cousin party, few miles off from my house, car start to surge and CEL come on, however, I tried to cripple home.
I have baby this car, and last couple month, tranny fluid drained at 17.4K mile and noticed fluid turned brown color. Once someone on this forum mentioned if your tranny fluid turn dark color, then you might be as well kiss it good-bye. Man, I saluted you.
Just to shared the info.

I hope Honda engineer need to redesign the tranny or else their reputation has been going down. Oh well, it is not the end of the world, so will take it to the dealer and have it fix.

PS. Please, no car wash after the service is done.....

Update

Hello all:

Yeah mann, thanks for the kind word. Just called local Acura service manager and she suggested to have it tow to the dealership by 9pm tonight. Stop by in the morning and have paper work and loaner ready. ummh, what kind of loaner am I going to get? perhap, 2K4 TL with 6-speed manual? That will be great if I can that.

BTW: mine (still have) 92 Acura Integras GSR 5sp with 259K miles and with the original tranny!!! and it still going strong. I wish TL/S could be the same or at least give me over 100K!

Sorry to hear.

My 2003 TLS with build date of Dec 2002 (same build date as yours, and yes my VIN was outside of the problematic VIN Range ) died earlier this month. Took it in to the dealer and they said that I will need a new transmission. The car was in there for about a week. Today they gave me a call and said that it was ready. I picked it up. Drove it for about an hour and no problems so far but the car is slightly sluggish than before. Acura put me in an Enterprise Rental car for a week. Whatever rental car you get, it all depends on what Enterprise has on their lot at the time. I hear that the "fix" on the transmissions is a bandaid fix and not a definite fix like what Acura claims.....
