Exclamation 21 questions

Well actually they're only 4 questions --

1) Do rims smaller in diameter make better use of the car's HP & torque?
2) I found some 17" MSR 190 rims ($135!) that weigh 18 LBS so how much difference in speed would that make?
3) I want some rims just for the track so performance is my first concern and looks second but how do you think Gun metal black would look with ABP?
4) I notice that most 17" rims seem to have 7" width, but don't I want at least 8-8.5" of width for better "launch" traction?

.

size does matter, the larger the wheel the more unsprung mass there is. 17 inch is a good size. gunmetal is a nice color. remember the wider the rim the more weight it will add. 7-8 inch is wide enough

A smaller diameter rim will help you launch more aggressively due to the increased leverage but the top end speed will suffer quite a bit.

Width will also affect performance...
Enkei makes a lightweight wheel that is 17"x9.0 or so...It weighs even less--like 16lbs or so...Centerline also makes wheels that are sub 15lbs...
Track times I don't know, but my old wheel were 18.4 lbs each (Vault)...My new ones are 20.9 pounds each. Both were 18's...The older ones clearly allowed a viscious chirp going into second gear, the heavier wheels still chirp but not nearly as easily. The car did feel quicker with the lighter wheels. That being said, I bent the lighter wheels CONSTANTLY on pot holes, bad roads, etc...I got tires of replacing them (3) and still ended up with two more bent ones when I went ahead and got something a bit sturdier...
