2004 TL with DVD-Audio Player as a standard feature
The website thecarconnection.com is reporting that Acura's upcoming replacement for the TL model will feature a DVD-Audio player as a standard feature. The player is designed by Panasonic and will play DVD-Audio discs as well as standard CDs. 5.1 playback will also be supported. It is unknown whether the player will support popular compressed audio formats such as MP3 or Window Media.

MAYBE that will be available for the Japanese version of the car. I assume the "no TV" in the front is unique to US law and not necessarily the rule in other countries.

I hope this is an option... 'cause you know in 2010 they're coming out with the blue-laser, neuro-detecting PSA system. You lay in a "Matrix" while you think you are living.
Personally, I wish they'd bring back the 8-track tape with a big '01' painted on the side or a gold eagle on the hood.
Real cars = Real fun.
You laugh at me because I'm different; I laugh at you because you're all the same.

DVD-A would be AWESOME. This is a multichannel format, high resolution format. These discs play music in a 5.1 surround format. Surround sound in the car would be smokin'!!!

HONDA OPTS FOR DVD AUDIO
Honda will begin offering a DVD-Audio player as a standard feature on the new Acura TL, which is scheduled to reach the showrooms in October, 2003. The new unit was designed by Panasonic and can play DVD-Audio discs as well as a variety of media including CDs. The new system will feature the very latest in audio technology and will be capable of reproducing 5.1 channels of uncompressed surround sound music. In addition, a new generation of DVD-Audio ready speakers, multi-channel amplifiers and in-dash receivers is being readied. Other automakers are also looking at the system, particularly for luxury models. The rising popularity of home entertainment systems equipped with surround sound has helped boost the popularity of the DVD-Audio format. —Joe Szczesny

Thats intresting that they would go with Panasonic since I thought most of Honda/Acura Audio components are made by Alpine.
If they get rid of the road noise, DVD-A would be awesome.
