2003 TL Transmission (repost, problem with first post)
I'm a new user on this forum (I just bought my TL-S on Labor Day) and was dismayed to read here that certain 2003 TLs were also affected by a bad tranny (the dealer told me all 2003 models were fixed). I was relieved though to find out my VIN was NOT listed among those affected in the transmission TSB.
However, as I have been reading through the rest of this forum, I have noted quite a few 2003 TL owners complaining about their tranmissions. My question then is, of those 2003 TL owners who have had their transmissions replaced, were any of those NOT covered by the extended warranty? I.e., is my car really safe or am I just living Acura's lie?
Perhaps only time can tell if the newer TLs identified to be fixed still have the tranny problem or not. I can hope the answer is no but until then everytime I'm driving I will be intently listening for the sounds of a tranny slipping.

The early production 2003 TLs were affected and did receive the extended 7yr/100k powertrain extention. When I say early 2003, I mean 2003 models built and sold in 2002.
Your car should be fine. If you're worried about it you can call Acura Customer Service and they'll verify that your car is outside of the affected VIN range. In the case where you do have a problem the odds are that Acura will take care of you, plus, since you have such a late model 2003 any problems would appear relativlely (sp?) early. Also keep in mind that even if you were affected you'd only have a small chance of having a failure.. so just enjoy your car!!
