Hi,

I just bought a 2003 3.2TL with Navigation. The car is very nice except that the display of the Navi has a problem: when in Night display mode, there are series of horizonal dark lines scrolling down the screen slowly. While in the day light display mode, the lines don't show up. But they reappear when the brightness is reduced.

Has anyone had similar problem? And if so, what is the cause?

I'd like to hear the advices from this forum before I bring back the car to the dealership for a check-up.

Hmm... never saw that on mine. I'd take it back to the dealer and have 'em fix it. I've had my navi since October and haven't had any noteworthy problems.

I get these sometimes at varying RPMs, although mine does it in both day and night mode. I believe it is alternator/engine "noise" that is being picked up by the navi electronics. Try this: if you can see the lines with the car parked and the engine running, try turning the engine off, but leave the ignition on (just turn the key backwards one click). If it is caused by the engine, the lines should go away altogether (mine do). You can also put the car in park and rev the engine a little and see if the lines come and go with varying RPMs. I don't know if there's anything they can do about--mine comes and goes.

 

I have the same [roblem and its onlywith the car on. Do you have any mods done to your radio or navi? Just curious how its picking up the alternator noise. I really want to get rid of those ghost lines scrolling on mine
