Exclamation 2003 TL Info Available!

I just went to the Acura website, http://www.acura.com and the 2003 info and specs are out. Nothing new really, just OnStar and the Anthricite color. Check it out.

What :wow: different dimensions?

Why the raised the body by 0.6" and why the height is almot 2" higher?

Something fishy here...

The 2002's are also 8-way,

Front up/down - 2
Back up/down - 2
forward/back -2
seatback up/down -2 = 8 way's.

For a second I thought the new TL-S had the sportier CL-S seats .......:p

Edit; ignore...I type to slow:o

Now that the 03s have more ground clearance I am thinking about adding the body kit.

Does the 2002 have "Electronically controlled EGR" for some reason I don't recall seen that before.

YEES! YEES! YEES!

I'm so glad Acura didn't CL-ify the TL and fugly it up! I think Anthracite is such a great color. OnStar? Well I think I can take or leave it. HMMM! It is strange that the dimension numbers changed. I seriously doubt that Acura ADDED almost 3 inches in height. Someone needs to revisit 6th grade and learn to read a ruler.

Most people probably won't be going off-roading with the TL-S so I am not sure why they increased the ground clearance.

I agree. I wonder if we can add one onto ours. Is it good for something or is it just something to make the car look cooler?

They might be getting ready for next year's redesign. Probably AWD by the looks of it rite now

That antenna is for the On-Star system that is coming on the '03 models. You could add it to our car, but it wouldn't serve a purpose which would make it rather silly IMO.

I knew (as did many others on the board) they weren't changing anything major on the TL for '03. I just hope all of the people who started and replied to all of the topics for the last 6 months or so about the '03 being redesigned go to Acura's website and see the facts. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read online unless it's straight from the horse's mouth.

Adding the Anthracite on the Type-S model is sweet. I still would have stayed with my blue, but the Anthracite would have been a close second!!

LMAO.... that's funny.

The '04 TL is going to be a new model redesign, not a refresh. That means it will be based off of a different chassis platform from the current TL and probably feature a new engine, most likely in the i-VTEC form. The fact that they raised the car for '03 has nothing to do with what changes are coming next year. It's nice to hope though

Traditionally Honda completely changes their cars every 4 to five years. After a new model comes out, its around for 2 years, then it gets spruced it up for another 2 (as is the case of the 2002/2003 TL) then its redesigned for the next generation. Things are a lot more competitive, so we should expect the life cycle of a cars generation to decrease, or the changes within the generation to be more substantial (as was the case of adding the Type S).

An another note, I agree with u guys on the Anthracite, thats the color I wanted initially, but it was not available on the TLS. What sucks is that I just bought my car on 12/31/01. Ah well, I'll have a newer one sooner when my lease if up, heh heh....

If that's true and the 2" is more headroom I'd be all over that sh!t. That's my biggest complaint about my TL-S--not enough headroom.

Question

Motor Trend says Fall of 2003 for 04 TL. Does anybody know if this is true? I always thought Spring of 03. I thought it would come out in March like last year.

noone knows until Acura decides to release it. Noone was expecting the 02TL-S to come out so early either, but all of a sudden Acura broke their cycle and did, so until it comes out, i dont think anyone can do nething more than speculate.

I'm thinking that the extra height is because of the OnStar antenna... Wouldn't that make sense? I can't see them redesining the cab when the complete re-do will be next year

More ground clearance usually means larger wheel gaps between the wheel wells and the tires. Not good at all.

well, its possible that they are trying to accomodate the people with comptech springs, so this way the drop is not too low :p but i'd say its more likely that they are trying to compete with the new ES, so they are putting it higher up and thus making it softer on the rebound... i dunno...
