broken welds on exhaust pipe? Missing bolts on exhaust pipe? Giant hole in exhaust pipe? broken welds on catalytic convertor? someone stole the catalytic convertor? bolts missing from exhaust manifold?
sounds exactly like some one chopped off the cat, or the bolts to the manifold failed and the exhaust is just dumping near the heads
