2003 Acura TL (170,000 miles) - driver side window regulator

Dear AcuraZine Community,

I own a 2003 Acura TL (170,000 miles). I've had the driver side power window unit replaced by the dealer 4 times since March 2002. Most recently, the unit was replaced in 2009.

The driver side power window unit is not working again. None of the 4 windows can be controlled from the unit.

Question -- which fuse do I check to see if it's a simple fuse issue with the window relay unit? I've looked at a number of threads and at the diagrams in the car and am unsure which to check.

Many thanks.

I found this diagram online and checked fuse #1 in my 2003 Acura TL for the power window unit.

Fuse Diagram

The #1 fuse was fine (I replaced also to check) and the unit still does not work.

Should I take to dealer or local auto shop?

Many thanks

Could be a faulty multiplex unit or simply a wiring connection.
I wouldn't pay the dealer big bucks.....only to have the problem re-occur.
Your best overall bet is an automotive specialty electrical shop,....... IMO.

I'm having Power Window issues myself but all my are working except one which I haven't quite figured out what is going on yet.

As for you problem, am I correct that none of your windows works or you just cannot control any windows from your Master Controller?

There's a 40A fuse under the hood on the Passenger side of the car you might want to check that one also as it will kill power to all your windows.

The Window Relay is a PITA to get to, it's up under the dash just to the right of the glove box.

If you remove the glove box you can see where it's at but there are two plastic clips that keep that sucker in place and there's very little room without removing some other items like part of the center console where the radio is to completely remove the glove box back panel so you can access everything better.

@DJMikeT - Many thanks for your response. I switched out the 40A fuse under the hood and the master controller in the driver door will not operate any of the 4 windows.

The other 3 windows (passenger front and 2 back) do work from their individual door positions. The frustration is that the driver door window does not work which is a challenge for gas, tolls, etc.

A local repair shop which a friend recommends asked for $70 to diagnose (which was fine by me). They had a 2-day waiting period for diagnosis and did not have a loaner car though.

I had an Acura dealer appointment set up for this week with loaner, so I'll re-post with solution once resolved.

Yes, please let me know what they tell you about the diagnosis. My Master Controller is not controlling the Rear Passenger window correctly and it works from the door itself. I can roll it down but not back up from the Master.

Already tried a new Master Controller and still have the same issues. I'm going to break out my volt / ohm meter tomorrow and try to troubleshoot it.

Hoping it's just the motor going out, frustrating to say the least.
