sucks, but does kind of make sense. if they only made 8,000 cars, how many replacement headlights do they figure on needing?

Yup, this is pretty much the case. I called around to my contacts and none of them are carrying A-Spec parts for this reason. You must own an A-spec, and prove you own an A-spec, to order A-spec replacement parts. Sucks b/c I wanted those blue headlights....

Second, wouldent we just need the VIN from an A-Spec? what else could they make u tell them to proove you have an A-Spec other than the VIN?

Well, the fact that you're in the US would be tough since it's a Canadian only model available only through Canadian dealers.

I suppose if you can obtain a VIN and verify the dealer it was sold through you could say you moved or something.. but that just seems like too much work b/c they may ask for proof of that as well.

I say you help your TL members by using your VIN, ordering headlights, make a little off the top for your troubles and sell them to us. They can't deny you headlights, especially if your a true owner. Hook us up!:p

LOL... I agree!!

However, I have also heard that parts that are ordered for the A-spec will only be delivered and swapped at the dealership. Now, this may only be for the larger parts like the headlights and spoiler. I don't know if this is the case... personally, I hope not b/c I want those blue headlights

I don't mind helping you non Aspecs out there. I will call my friends in parts department @ Acura to find out what the deal is?
I want to forewarn you that shipping fron Canada can get wee bit expensive after the fact that there is 14.5% Tax (GST & PST) and there could also be some duty while shipping across the border.
Meanwhile let me know what are the parts you want?

Here's the latest on the A-Spec parts. I called a few places, Acura Corporate in California and two dealers in Canada. Here's the scoop:

Because the A-Spec is such limited quantity, they have no plans to make "a significant amount" of spare parts. Basically what the guy at Acura Corporate said is I feel your pain, but since the model is a limited edition, they want to keep it that way.

Bottom line Unless you drive into the dealer with broken, stolen... headlights, they aren't gonna order you a set. Same holds true for all the other A-Spec specific parts.

That does suck as I was going to offer the same deal as I work in the US but am a Canadian resident. If someone else finds out different I may be able to get a couple sets.

That is so true. I spoke to a dealer here in Vancouver to order door sills from an A-spec using my Vin and was willing to fax over the registration to the dealer in Richmond for a member who lives here as well and had asked me to order the sills. I was told that they had the pricing for the sills but the parts were not even available yet. When I asked if I could place an order, I was told that I would have to take the car to the dealer I bought from and that dealer upon inspection would have to fill out special form
( ordering A-spec parts is totally different than the usual way ) The partswould have to be prepaid as well.
It seemed like too onerous aprocess to go thru when there no availability date on some of the parts yet.

As much as I appreciate the look of the A-Spec, I for one am not 100% jealous. Why you ask? Just as we are jealous of Canadians for the A-Spec, they are equally/if not more jealous of our US/NAV counterparts. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR WITHOUT A NAV. But...for a canadian car...good choice

I guess it is a matter of "you always want what you can't have". US have NAV, which for us Canadian dread for not able to have it. On the other hand US dread for the DRL , or the windshield washer low warning light. Everyone wants to drive a car that is different than the next guy

I don't mean to be cruel but I paid an arm and leg for those same type mods from Japan over the past 3 years so I am glad that it looks like my Inspire will still be unique afterall. Its true though, the A Spec wouldnt be special if you could order the parts and bolt them on any Type S. What really makes me mad is they have a window washer level warning light on dash.

Just how rare is the A-spec in Canada? Did you say that they only made 800 or 8,000? And I assume that you still have your choice of a standard TLS up in Canada, just not with navi?

BTW, if it's not too personal... Just how much more does the A-spec version cost over the stock TLS?

Thanks and CONTRATS! P.S. I also have Aegean Blue, you will love that color more and more as you never tire of looking back at it as you walk away from the car....

I think I probably have the only one registered in the US (got my residency), but yes I still wish I had navi, but the two-tone blue and black interior makes up for it.
