Angry 2002 Drivers' seat leather back replacement

My driver seat bottom left strip is cracking ,it has a spot that is coming open and has to be replaced. The specialty shop told me that it would a waste as it would not last. The vertical strip does not look like leather but vinyl, is this possible?

My Acura dealer has told me a replacement of $480 for the back leather cover only part 04814-S0KA60ZX colour tan color code YR169L.

Anybody our there where I can get either a good used or a new one for best price. DCH is close to the quotation of my dealer. I have attempted several salvage dealers without success

Anybody else with same problem as Acura will not assist but I am being persistant about this defective substandard piece of work. The remainder of the seat is in good shape otherwise.

Since it's out of warranty, they won't replace it. I've had the bottom seat cover replaced under warranty becasue of a slight tear.

Did the $480 quote include labor to install the cushion cover?- if not, you can buy the cover from Bell Acura in Phoenix, AZ for $332.47 (before shipping), then take it to upholstery shop for installation. It's still expensive, but beats a poor repair job.

If the link doesn't work, go to www.oemacuraparts.com, go to the replacement body parts section, put in your data, and look for the seat cushion in the beige color.

Good luck.

I made a mistake on the price- it's actually $247.

Just have an upholstry shop replace the section that is torn. I have had several pannels replaced over the years. A section that is about 6" x 18" should cost $250 to replace with factory leather. They just remove the cover and stitch in a new section. It is a little cheeper than the new cover. If you think that the rest of the cover is getting ready to go do the whole thing, but I doubt that is the case. Look at your side bolsters to make sure that they are not wearing thin.
