rick634 12-24-2015 05:02 AM

Depo is par with TYC with aftermarket taillights, for any Honda product, AKA ACURA!

Jakes_tl 12-24-2015 06:01 AM

for aftermarket taillights, headlights depo is about as good as it gets

ErickUa5 12-24-2015 08:57 AM

Says it doesn't work for 99-01, Sounds like a plan for me.

Ahmed Nomaw 12-25-2015 10:38 PM

I don't understand why it wouldn't fit a 99-01, it's the same generation. Acura didn't change anything on the rear end in 2002-2003.

Maybe a wiring issue?? Probably could be made to work in my opinion.

They do look nice, wouldn't mind some on my 2001 once I get all my engine work done.

If I remember correctly the turn signal bulbs are different and so is the socket that the bulb goes onto. If you make your own connection that will take care of that, Ill post a DIY as soon as I get my hands on it.

rick634 12-29-2015 03:56 PM

I just got them today, will post pics ASAP!:thumbsup:They look awesome like hell!

rick634 12-29-2015 04:28 PM

I can't upload the pics till tomm, but u are right about the turn signals being different than just splice tht shit, and get it done, it works on all gens of acura 99-2003, it uses the same harness and everything else besise the turn signal! piece of cake!:toocool:

Looks great man, waiting on Erick to see how his come out as well.

rick634 01-01-2016 01:23 AM

Thanks DjMikeT, but yeah it fits any generation from 99-2003 acura Tl, u have to get the turn signal from a 2002 harness, but i got that from a junkyard for $5 for both wiring harnesses, otherwise it is a piece of cake! or cut it splice to make it work, but u need to connect those led resistors, otherwise it won't work at all.

rick634 01-01-2016 01:24 AM

Happy New year to the Acurazine Family!

Groovemaster 01-02-2016 10:02 AM

Any issues with the LED resistors? Does you brake light indicator light up?

rick634 01-03-2016 09:02 PM

No i haven't had that problem yet?

Skirmich 01-03-2016 10:46 PM

Could you do a video and show the turn signals as well with Park Lights / Brake press? I know is too much to ask but this is a breakthrough for the 2G crowd! those lights at first hand look awesome.

trinistylez 01-03-2016 10:52 PM

does anyone have a working link for the product? both links provided are dead, the item is no longer listed. i did a search but came up with nothing. on depos website, the part number i found associated with that specific tail light is 317-1936PX-CR .... used that and still nothing was to be found.

rick634 01-04-2016 05:14 PM

link works now?

Those look sweet! Hard to justify given the age and value of my car though... maybe when my tail lights start to burn out.

Oooo do tell.

DJMikeT 01-26-2016 09:40 PM

Looks nice bro, where did you get those??

01acls 01-27-2016 12:13 AM

They are nothing more than led strips. The unique thing about these LED is that they are "Side Emitting LEDs". Which allows them to fit in the small gaps between the lamp and the hood/bumper. However, it still needs some kind of a gap.

They're really inexpensive as far as mods go. You can buy them for less than $5 (ebay/Amazon) to $30 (boutique LED shops), depends where you get them from.

I got the lights from walmark of all places. I had no idea that they even existed but, thought that they were interesting and had potential when I saw them. I paid $20 each, one for each headlamp. They come two stripes per pack. I bought two packs.

If you are interested in getting some just google for "Side Emitting LED".

The install is pretty straightforward. The strips have 3m double sided tape on them so just peel and stick. Prior to installation be sure to clean the lamps or surface first with some kinda alcohol wipe. Just make sure it's squeaky clean.

I installed mine's just a little on the inside edge of the headlamps. Hoping it would keep it from peel off by the elements.

The stripes are ready to accept a 12V power source. They don't really need a relay for installation. Being LEDs they draw very little power. It's best to install them ignition switched.

The strips are not so bright that you have to turn them off when driving at night with the headlamps on. You can if you want to by installing a double throw relay.

To add to that you should be able to use two double throw relays (one per each headlamp) to turn them off if you want to wire them in such a way that the DRL shuts off (one side) when using the turn signal. The proper way IMO.

The strips look like this. Generic pic.

Remember... "Sideways LED" or "Side Emitting LED".

^ You should take the time and open the headlights and place them inside to make it look cleaner :2cents:

01acls 01-27-2016 09:12 AM

Well there are pros and a cons to putting them inside the headlamps. Depends on how you look at it.

Inside the headlamps

Pros

1. Looks super cool, as if OE.

2. Should last longer being protected from the elements.

Cons

1.. Impossible to service.

2.. The DIY difficulty would go up astromitcal.

LED strip on the outside.

Pros

1. Looks just as cool bc you can't see the strips when the lights are off. They're recessed inside the gap. The car looks normal, as if bone stock. You would never know they are there.

2. Readily service able. Being as cheap as they are if a LED goes out just pop in a new strip.

3. EZ PZ install. Every Joe, Dick, and Jane can do.

4. EZ to undo if I wanted to remove it.

Con

1. Maybe less reliable but that's a wash really.

Ladies and gentlemens choose your poison.

00TL-P3.2 01-27-2016 03:21 PM

Not bad, but I think I'd have done just 1 strip either along the top edge of the housing, or the bottom. Not feeling the wrap around the corner.
