2001 TL Owners , I need your help !!!!
Hi everybody !
It has been almost 2 years that I have my 2001 TL with 14000 miles on it and could not be more unhappy.
After I had 3000 Miles on it my brake systems started to making clicking noises and the noise got louder and louder (It kills me..).
During these 2 years I have been visiting the Dealer probably for more than 7 times for same problem.
I also reported the issue to BBB. Acura tried to fix it by lubricating the back side of the brake pads and also changing the entire brake pads in different dealer visits but it was unsuccessful. They claim that this is just the characteristics of all TL's and there is no problem with brake systems.
I say that is a totally wrong statement because:
# 1. Characteristic means I had to have the noise even the day 1 I test drove the car (Believe me I would not have bought the car)
# 2. I searched the net and posted messages here and there on different websites and all I received was negative answered regarding the problem.
I am going to take the Acura to Court to make them take the car back.
All I need from you guys (Owners that don’t experience any loud clicking noise from their braking systems when applied after direction change); if you have time just send me a letter stating the truth that you don’t have any problems with your brake systems.
I want to make them understand that they can not just sell a product and not be reliable for its quality and safety.
I would really appreciate your help.

I have a similar problem with the noise during direction change on my 01TL.. It's getting louder and louder.. not only that.. during high speed braking, there is a steering wheel shake if I'm going 60-80mph..
On my next visit to the dealer, I'm toing to get them to perform the rotor resurface service bulletin..

Well to answer Edub-TL & miamiTL question the shake of your steering wheel during braking from 80 or 60 miles most likely is that your brake rotors are warped. This is a common problem for HONDA cars. The TL had a TSB/ service bullentin about it because it was more of a problem with some parts on the TL & they replaced some owners front pads & rotors under warranty. That warranty work was also done on lower mileage cars. I also had that problem on my 2000TL at about 11,000 miles also. I took it in & they resurfaced the front rotors. I took it back again for the same problem at my 15,000 miles service & the replaced with new front pads & gave me new front rotors also under warranty. I have not had any more problems & that was 15,000 miles ago.
Some of the main causees of the problems are improper torque on the lugs nuts /over tightning. It also can come from washing your car with cold water & spraying the wheels when they are very hot. There are also a few other causes. You can do searches on this board under brakes or warped rotors. This topic has been coverd for the last few year on here. The other problem with the noise on the back brakes that mcsetl has I have not seen that posted before. It is not a normal thing with a TL the 99-01 TL braking systems should all be the same. The only thing I could say is it could be your ABS kicking in during braking sometime like turning corners this would depend on how hard you push the brakes while turning . But you said it was the back brakes so I can't answer that. I am do for back brake pads on my 2000TL with about 30,000 miles on it. They told me I had about 10% on the rear pads at my last oil change & I could get it done at my next change. I am now about for it now. I will get new pads on the rear for the 1st time since I got the car 3years ago.
