2001 Acura TL D5 light blinking
2001 Acura 3.2 TL V6 Automatic
-310,000 km
-always well taken care of and maintained exceptionally.
- replaced passenger side axle in feb 2016
- replaced struts in November 2016
- mount on passenger side repaired last week because of squeaking noise due to the rubber being completely worn out.
-some simple electrical work done last week to fix the high beam head light that only worked every now and then.
Ever since we took it out of the garage a couple of days ago the D5 light is blinking and my father says I am missing 2 gears.
He has replaced the transmission fluid since light started blinking and still no change.
Yes it has a lot of kilometres and is old but because of how well it was driven and taken care of its entire life I'm wondering what's going on and don't want to have to take to a shop to find out the problem since we are low on money right now.
Please give me your opinions from your past experience !!!! Was getting ready to sell the car and fixing all the little details when it started and would really just like to get her fixed and sold asap.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Ok first we need to know what "Missing 2 gears" means? does the car engage drive? engage reverse? how does it shift = Hard or Smooth?
The blinking D5 can mean a lot of things, A blinking D5 tells you there is a problem in the transmission but that is it! It doesn´t tell you specifics.
Usually with a Blinking D5 the ECU should throw a OBDII code so you should get that read at your local Autozone.

Yeah you need to read the code(s). Otherwise we're just guessing. O'Reilly will also read them for free. A bluetooth code reader off Amazon is dirt cheap though too, for the future. I just keep mine in the center console.

Just to give you an idea, if you look at page 14-223 in the service manual there are about 15 possible reasons listed for D5 blinking. Temperature or speed sensors, range switch fault, solenoid issues, hydraulic issues, etc. Is the check engine light also on?

the check engine light is not on
