2000TL question on CD player
Does anyone know the CD player in a 2000TL can play MP3 files??
I plugged in a MP3 file...it seems to go through an endless search...I got impatient and ejected it.
Also, my CD player has been acting strangely on CD-R media with computer recorded (Non-MP3) CD's...it scans sometimes for almost 3 ~ 4 minutes and then starts playing.
Anyone seen this behaviour?? Also, is there a way to set the settings to DEFAULT on the CD player by pressing a sequence of buttons??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Vinnie

the factory player CANNOT play MP3's. and it has a very hard time playing music on CD-R's. all you can do is try burning on different brands of cd's and see which ones you have the best luck with, or get a 2003 headunit (which wont play mp3's either) or the best option get a aftermarket headunit

fsttyms1...Thanks for your response.
I suppose the option is to then get a MP3 portable player and then have a "cassette adapter kit" to play the MP3 through the cassette player. I was trying to avoid that.
You may be right about different brand of CD-R's. I had in the past used "non famous" name brand CD-R's...and it just didn't play. The last few times, I used Sony, Memorex and that worked pretty good. I have no problem, if I load the CD-R and it plays the FIRST track ; but if it is in RANDOM mode then it squeaks....and searches for a good 3 ~ 4 minutes before playing. The same thing happens when it has played part way and for some reason either you have stopped the car, or switched to Radio and then back to CD...well, it searches for 3 ~ 4 minutes then also.
In regards to the MP3 files, I have several books on tapes and I could convert those to regular CD files, but that would mean using 7 ~ 8 CD-R's...so it's a tossup to get the portable MP3 player or not.

you can get a adapter from blitzafe and plug a mp3 player directly into the back of the headunit so you dont loose any audio quality. you could also get a MP3/cd changer too and use the adapter to hook it into the back. alpine makes a model or 2 that will plug into the back of the headunit
