i was driving one nite and i was at a light with a 1st gen maxima and we both were kinda racing...i say kinda because i really didnt floor it for the VTEC to kick in but he did floor it. he got ahead of me pretty good but my question is will our TL beat a 1st gen maxima off the line?

ROTFLMAO
Well folks, I just peed on myself because I laughed so hard.......
The 1st gen Maxima or 1981-1984 maxima for the rest of you, was actually a very nice car for it's time...Inline-6 2.4 Litres, taken from the 240Z making 120 hp. But if you wanted economy, I would say go for the 90 hp Diesel (displacement?). Oh, and RWD, not really a bad thing!
While I have seen one 12 second 1st Gen maxima.....severely blown (turbo I think, running 15+ psi of boost)
I'll assume you were drunk, really drunk, at the time, or you're thinking of a different generation. Check here to identify what raped you: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte671n/maxima/ads.html
here's a run down on the generations:
First Generation Maxima: 1981-1984
Second Generation Maxima: 1985-1988
Third Generation Maxima: 1989-1994
Fourth Generation Maxima: 1995-1999
Fifth gen: 2000-2003 or 2004 (probably, but in 2002, it will likely get a 260+ hp engine from the new Z, just in time for the TL-S....but it is important to note that both the TL-S and the 2002 Maxima will likely have 6-speed manuals as options! What fun that will be, but the VQ35DE engine that will likely be in the Maxima will probably be more powerful across the powerband, without using VTEC voodoo.)
Also, all generations of Maxima's were available in a manual trim level, 4th and 5th generation manual Maxima's are faster than TL's, assuming both are stock, so buy headers from Snook.
Finally Maxima's are built in Japan (Fewer rattles!

OK, i messed up with the model years. i forgot maxima went that far back. i was tlaking about the 3rd or the 4th generation. the one that remsembled the legend when the legend first appeared on the market.

well, the 3rd gen came in 160 and 190hp range, and the 190 engine is pretty good... it can take a 200hp accord, so if you didnt floor it and he did, assuming both of you are stock and he is running the 190hp engine, he would take you... the car is not as fast as ours, but by no means slow

Well let me tell u guyhs osmething. I had 2 maximas before my CL-s and they were both very fast for their time. I had a 89 maxima gle (160hp) with bose and leather and all teh trims and at the time i had it, which was 95-98, i had a bunch of kills including mitsu eclipses and lots of others, probaly some acuras in there too. After i dropped the tranny on it in may of 98, i got a 98 maxima SE with automatic, and once again, this puppy flew. With 190hp, i could kill most hings including alot of sport cars. I loved that car and took it to fl with me to FL, until that day in january that i got hit 2 times and on the 2nd accident, lost the car for a month. After that I had to send it back to NY for my parnets a get a new car. What a choice I made and the rest is history. CL-S now, and soon to be TL-S or MDX in 3 years.

I almost fell off my seat laughing so hard.. I hope your excuse was you are too short to reach the pedal, which is why you couldn't punch it!

Shooflin', easy there killa...my father was in the car and i didnt want him to feel uncomfortable. but believe me, when i race someone (which is not often), i do go the distance, regardless of the consequences afterwards.
