The TL stock radio's dont have prevolt outputs, only speaker level. And they arent made by Alpine, only the Navigation system is.

hmmm.. the acura tech's and the alpine techs seem to think that the cd player and the screen is alpine..

The wiring and the speakers are bose per the Alpine tech.

Doesn't it have to be some volt's to go to the bose amp?

It may be Alpine, I thought it was Pioneer though...but no, it uses speaker level inputs for the Bose amps after the main outputs go though the Bose EQ that is behind the stock HU. Well it will have power, but it will be a high level/speaker level type, vs. the low level/RCA type that you are refering to that aftermarket HUs use or home audio systems use.

See, I'm trying to figure out how it will sound using a pre amp tap on this factory head unit. I will be taking the signal and throwing it through an alpine ERA-G320 then onto the two amps.

I guess I could do it through an RCA Connector or somehow. I want it to sound good though. The ERA G320 processor can only do so much. Do you have any experience with this?

I want to keep the factory unit in there, but I still want it to sound good. It's more affordable this way and the theives will just see the stock unit face.

ya that is possible to use the factory speaker level outputs and take them to the processor and it will have RCA outputs for you amplifiers. This will sound ok but the stock HU will definately hold the SQ back because it obviously isnt built as well as a good aftermarket HU. That being said, those processors can transform some signals into way more than they started with. Personally, if you just take off the face of your HU, that is the best anti theft you can use and you get all the advantages of a good HU, plus you can save the money on the ERA-G320 and put that toward the new HU.

the 2000 (in mine) was a alpine unit. there was a specific model of alpine CD changer that was a direct plug and play with out factory HU.
your best bet is to bypass the eq and get a better aftermarket eq and amp set up. (my factory speakers sound better with the eq thats in my new hu. also that way if you ever plan on getting rid of the factory crap speakers you wont have to worry about bypassing the eq to allow the new speakers to sound better

then if your going to keep the stock HU (which I would get rid of) by pass teh eq (which will bypass the amp side of teh HU also) that way you can control the eqsettings yourself

There is a couple good things about keeping your factory head unit in.

-When I try to sell it... this little piece will not have to be removed.

-You don't have to mess with a custome dashboard mold/sanding/etc.

-When theives walk by.. they see a stock/factory radio.. boring

When I turn it on though... POW! and when I install my dvd/mp3 player.. I probably wont use the in dash cd player much anymore.

The only downside for me is will I lose sound quality?

Some say yes and others say that with my Alpine EQ and my amps it should sound fine.. If there's a drastic sound difference then I will have to replace the factory head unit which is more money...
