1999 3.2 TL with INJEN short ram intake

First off….Hello Forum!!!! (I am new to the site).

Any info, knowledge and/or feedback regarding installing a short ram INJEN intake (or any intake for that matter) in a 1999 3.2TL?? All that I find on the internet is install information for TLs 2000’ and up.

Thank you and appreciate your time,

M

First, welcome! Second, any intake for the 99-03 TL non Type-S will fit your car. And the Cold Air is what you want for power, the short ram virtually does nothing on these cars but suck hot air and make noise.

If you need a diy, i can try and get one done, more of a video though, i dont like taking pictures. Also, installing an SRI is pretty similar to installing a CAI.

I would think installing a SRI would be quite a bit easier than a CAI as well, I doubt you'd really have to remove the front bumper or anything. That said, it's not going to offer the same performance as a CAI would.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

I did end up installing the SRI and had to do some "customization" to the heater core which is installed in the air box. All the write ups I found, and the one that came with the INJEN SRI, never mention the heater core and what to do with it. I ended up removing it from the air box, re-connecting all the hoses and tied it up behind the battery.

The intake looks cool but, I agree, it may not be the best intake solution for this car. Since it was installed my mpgs have significantly decreased. The power itself, well, in the beginning it seemed like it increased (maybe wishful thinking) but now I do not notice it.

CAI maybe the way to go…..thanks again everyone….

Realize the stock TL intake set-up is of the cold air type so if you go driving in deep water, either way you'd hydro-lock the car.

If you mean deep water you mean the whole bumper has to be submerged for your car to hydrolock.

That's exactly what I meant.
