15K service

is it true that each dealer has his own service routines? I got 2 maintenance schedules from two dealers and there is a difference...

Possibly.. I just did mines on Tuesday..

One dealer wanted $304 and the one I did it at only charged me $160..

I have what the other one was going to do and I have the work that was done at the place I got it.. I'll have to compare them when I get home..

I'm not paying more than what I paid for someone to "check" more things than another..

I know that the oil got changed, tranny fluid, and tires rotated..

It's still a ripoff, but I wanted to have a record of the service, and I just don't have the time to do all of that myself.. but I'm NEVER going to pay $300 for that!!

I took my car in for 15K service last Wed. the cost was $289.00
If I had not got the 2 A/C Filters replaced it would have been less.
The A/C filters cost about $26.00 & the labor to install them was over $70.00 My bill would have been about $160. for this service if not for filters. My dealer has a schedule maintenance book for all ACURA car models from 96-01. This book I got when I went to the new owners car clinic they give at the dealership. This was 19 months ago & the Type-S models were not out.The book is almost the same for current CL & TL models. I try to go by the owners manual service schedule as well. I see alot of you are getting Tranny Fluid changed at this service. My dealer did not do this & the owners manual does not recommend it until 90,000 miles or 72 months under normal driving conditions. In the severe section they say replace at 30,000 miles or 24 months. The dealers book they change it at 30,000 miles. Iam going to call the dealer about this because I fall in the severe condition section
the first 10 months the car was driven 10 miles or less perday.
I also did extensive idling & stop & go drivng. I am nearing the 24month period so I will see how much they charge for this & get it done at next oil change. I also was wondering do other dealers put in oil & fuel treatments at schedule services? Mine put in fuel treat & oil treatment at 7,500 & 15K in the book it they state what is put in at that service. I know other dealerships do it because a BENZ/DODGE were service was done on my sisters Caravan did it.

thanks for the replies, guys. Yes, based on the dealers that I talked to they both replace tranny fluid during the 15K service. Once has a few more things listed than the other, i wonder if they are accurate.

Doesn't your user's manual tell you what you should do when, and the dealer should follow what the manual says. I don't think any respectable dealership would go against Acura's instructions.

K-
I got it at Hopkins Acura since it was so close to my house..

took about 1 1/2 hours..

I have exactly the list of things they did in the car.. I'll get it and let you know if that is included or not.. I don't think it was, but I'll check.

I had to do my 15K service at my dealership and they charge around $100 more than Park Ave but if I didn't do the service there, I lose my free oil changes for life. $100 is 3 oil changes... it's not worth changing dealerships and losing them.

I guess they get you in the long run...

how'd you manage to get free oil changes? And yes, every dealer's goal is to "get" you in some manner......if you think you're getting a deal you're actually getting screwed in "a very uncomfortable place"

It was a perk of buying the car at that dealership.

All new cars bought there come with free oil changes at that dealership for life (or at least they used to).
