120k Scheduled Maintenance Worth It?
Hey guys, I just hit 120,000 miles with my '01 TL. She's been across the country and back, but she's generally in great shape. I'm considering not getting the 120k scheduled maintenance done (or getting it done somewhere other than at an Acura dealer) to save some cash. I would do it myself, but it's cold outside, and I haven't done much engine work, so I wouldn't even know what a bad tie rod end looks like, for example, without doing some research.
Question is: Is the 120k maintenance worth it?
And secondarily: Is it worth getting it done at an Acura dealership for the mechanics' experience with Acuras?

I am guessing you mean the much lamented 105 service with timing belt and water pump etc- thats over a grand -1500 at dealership, or look for a private shop that does acuras
the 120 service is a normal fluid, ps fluid, probably brake fluid etc and is important too
but if you have not done the 105 you are on borrowed time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that or its related parts break and its engine failure in a big way

Thanks for the concern guys, but I do in fact mean the 120k maintenance. I have done all of the scheduled maintenance until now (including timing belt and water pump).

whats the owner book call for- ps fluid, brake fluid, oil change and check everything over visually?
Fluids are really important to maintaining the cars life without expensive problems

01tl4tl, it sounds like you're saying the 120k maintenance is worthwhile. How about my other question: Are Acura mechanics worth the premium?

not on common jobs, on specialty problems or warranty they are the place to be
Look in the phone book for an `automobile repairing` shop with honda/acura listed in their ad- then call and ask what they do for the 120
What your book calls for plus a few preventatives are signs of a good shop
They do more than the book because the book is low key in its thinking
You can lube the hinges and wipe silicone spray on the door seals etc
Dont expect a tech do do the little things, they often get paid by the job not the hour so they can make good money being a fast worker~
