105k mile service detailed list needed

Hey Guys,
I got quoted an amount by my dealer today for the scheduled 105,000 mile service, but he wasnt clear with everything that needs to be done. I need to find out from those that have had it done, what services are done, and what parts do I need to buy if I had my mechanic do it instead of going to the dealer.

Thanks in advance!

Lets start with exactly what the dealer offers for that price- their list

Many only do the timing belt and water pump- skipping the real intent of the 105k service
Its time for spark plugs and valve adjustment- engine and cabin filters- all the fluid should be due, brake fluid- ps flush, inspect the brakes, lube throttle and cruise assemblies, the list goes on

check the owner book for more info
click year then model

ask a few private shops what they include
Its a pain when customer brings own parts in- shop loses profit and wont offer any warranty on a part they didnt buy
You are better off doing all the small jobs yourself- then taking it in for the labor intensive items

Timing Belt, water pump, drive belts, timing belt tensioner, spark plugs and actual valve clearance adjustment.

At the 105k service, all maintenance records should be reviewed and all maintenance should be brought up-to-date. This may include items such as brake system flush, cabin air filter and transmission fluid replacement.

I read somewhere in here that a full transmission flush and fill can expedite transmission failure. Is that just a case of coincidence or is it something to be genuinely concerned about. My car is right at 93,500 so I'm a bit early for the 105k but I'm just curious. I might do the 105k service early so I'd like to know before I freak myself out.

NEVER flush the tranny.

Drain and fill, drain and fill, drain and fill, (no, really, do it 3 to 4 times!) It won't die on you . . . unless it is gonna die on you!

Then they are working for free! There is no way they are replacing/doing all the required services at that price. Get a breakdown.
