2002 TL Type S
I need to do 100,000 mile tune-up pretty soon.
Should I go to dealer (it cost around $600) or just use local shop (around $250)?
I never go to dealer for services before expect tranny changes (3 times)
Thanks

Any one can do it. its nothing special. The only thing i would do is get teh oem timing belt from the dealer and bring it where ever you take the car in for service

with my experience with this tune up go to the dealer. i had a friend get me the parts and do it all at wholesale with new timing belt, water pump, and belts all for $200 but some how i spent around $600 when i was all down with extra parts like power steering that broke when he was done. The dealership told me $830 plus $219 for spark plugs when i asked.

this is what I did.
1. keep air filter(if you have a reusable one) or buy a new air filter
2. run seafoam through PVC valve and crankcase
3. after a few hundred miles change oil and spark plugs
4. run fuel system cleaner( gumout regane or BG 44k are both great products)
5. check tires and inflate to 35-39 psi
6. clean battery terminals
Your car will run a lot better, this is a thorough tune up and won't cost you more than $80 if you use a good synthetic oil and a good high grade oil filter. Timing belt is a different sotry an more expensive. about $500 at a local mechanic or $800-900 at the dealer.
