1/4 mile times

HEY guys i have a 02 tls with aem intake comtech headers and exaust and im goin to put pulleys on the car. witht the 3 options above i took my car to englishtown raceway tonight. low and good huminity but the times were surprising. 1sy run was 15.1 2nd was 14.9 and 15.0 for the last run. the car was warmed and cooled after each race so fatigue on the engine is not a factor. i think that the stock one will run in the 15.5 range and the manufactor ratings are over rated. good news is that i beat 3 wrxs that i raced againt most had minor work to them but were all in the 15.2's. Also does ne1 with similar work on their tls have times for 1/4 mile i would like to know how u have run. thanks marc

Good runs? Those runs suck ass. You should be around 14.3-14.6 with headers alone!! Something is wrong with your car man. I ran a 15.0 with just a intake.. and my buddy has headers, intake, exhaust, pulleys.. and ran the best of 14.3. Try to see if your actuator is working right... here you can read up on it, and shows how to check it.

You beat WRXs...interesting...

Oh and dont get pulleys.. they dont do $hit.

I don't remember if I ran my car stock or not, but with a Comptech header I ran 14.8 @ 94.2. Adding the Injen intake netted me a best of 14.6 @ 95.5.

EDIT: FWIW, all runs done at Moroso Motorsports Park in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

I ran a 15.2-15.4 Bone stock without having taken anything out or adjusting tire pressure on an 85 degree night and mild humidty. I am pretty sure on cool night with some tire pressure adjustments I can break the 14s. With headers you should be in the mid to high 14s, which you did. I think in cooler weather and with better rubber you should be able to get into the low to mid 14s. A few guys have run 14.6-14.8 with just and intake while most BS TLSs run in the 14.8-15.2 range.

Try it again when the weather is cooler!

Hmmm... it was cool last night and humidity was low... but those times seem slow. The TL-S runs 15.2 or lower stock. With your mods (I/H/E) you should be in the mid 14's fairly easily. I'd take CrazyBimmer's advise and read the FAQ about the actuator.....

not to mention the east coast tracks are supposed to be

pretty fast. There has to be something worng with your car. What are your trp speeds? If you are at 93 mph or less you aren't making the hp you should be making. What is was your tire pressure? 60 ft time? I beleive Ferixxo's best times came with a 60 ft of a bout 2.3 or 2.2. If your tire pressure is too high up front traction woudl be an issue.

Weird... the link that was provided above ( http://www.geocities.com/gamesmgr/chod/acura/#Driving6 ) had directions, pictures, and a Realplayer movie. All you need to do is have someone rev the car (or do it yourself under the hood) to ~4100 RPMs and you should see the actuator open as shown in the movie......

That's weird! Your car should definately be running better than that! I wish i could have gotten to the track lastnight so i could see what mine is running...it's stock. Wanted to see what it ran before H/I/E were installed......by the way...Less tire pressure the better......i had mine down around 15psi...more rubber on the pavment the better...A MUST w/ stock tires.

Ok guys... all that said... how the hell does Motor Trend get a stock TLS to 14.7 @ 97 mph? I suppose their optical 5th wheel could be more acurate as the timer isn't going to start until it starts rolling... but I can't think of anything else that could attribute to that time. Save maybe... they just ran the car on a cool, dry morning with temperatures around 50-60 degrees or so. I know mine flies in those conditions. Any thoughts?

definitely turn traction control off

and while the AEM pullies might not do anything, the UR pulleys (the crank pulley) provide a nice power increase. a guy on the CL-S board ran 14.3 with just the UR pulleys tires and a CAI I believe

Well, the TL-S that they had ran that time with that driver under whatever conditions they were under. That's why you can't magazine race.... there are too many variables involved. I've seen a few people run 14.8 - 14.9 stock, but I've also seen some low 15's (15.1, 15.2). Too many variables to have one consistant time for every TL-S ever made.....

exhaust does nothing, so it wouldn't make a difference.

14.2 still seems pretty fast.. one of the fastest I've seen. Who posted that time... do you remember??

The real "mag-racers..."

...like C&D .. in their October issue they post the TL Type S at 16.0 seconds to the quarter, and 7.4 to 60 .. but.. hmmm.. in the SAME issue, in the "short take .. Maxima SE" .. they talk about how the TL-S nearly edges the Max 6-spd (that ran a 14.7 in stock trim w/ 255 hp) running a 14.8 and 6.2.... that's the magazine editors themselves contradicting .. THEMSELVES. They had a range of 14.8 to 16.0. There 0-100mph in the TL_S ranged from a best of 16.0 (in their first full test) to a 20.8 seconds in this October issue. Oh yeah, the trap speed for October was only 88mph... I've seen better numbers for the TL-P!! However, to be fair, it's important to note that ALL the cars they tested that day were running ridiculously slow .. like the G35 running the 15.6 ... The Bimmer was running well over 15.5 ...

he is just jealous he can't get THE MAG time of 14.7's....maybe thats why he doesn't work for (BMW lovin) Motor Trend!
OH and Snowdude actually beat his time of 15.0 w/ a 14.9
