HI everyone!! Im a lil new to this forum thing cuz this my first time postin a msg up. anyways, i bought a 03 tl-s last summer and I was thinking about putting in an icebox intake and wingwest body kit. Do you think its a good time to do this since i heard its not good to mod brand new cars? Wat other recommendations do you guys suggest??

Go for it bro!! My first mod was done months after I bought the car!!

The Icebox and bodykit is a good way to go. Just keep in mind that with the Wings West bodykit, you will need to buy the Acura front lip b/c the WW doesn't fit. Personally I like the Acura kit... but to each their own. Welcome to the board!!

When is a good time to mod a car then? When it's old? Not a flame. IMO, a brand new car is the best, and most of time, easiest time to mod cars. That's when the nuts and bolts are still new and easy to take off and put back on. When the joints get old and weathered, they are sometimes and ***** to unscrew.

Welcome to the site!!
That was the question i asked myself when i booght the car too.
Will i mod it or not?
Turns out that after 2 months of buying the car, the signal lights are switched. 3 months after that, the factory spoiler light is switched. Soon after that, the fog lights are switched. Just got the OEM kit installed a couple days ago. Planning to drop an inch or two in the spring. I know those arent REAL mods that some people are considering but i dun wanna mess with the engine. I'm going for "ALL SHOW NO GO".
btw, what color is your car?? have any pics??
here's mine. I just update my gallery people. They all nice'n neat now.

Thanks for your input. My tl is dark grey. I dun have any pics on my comp rite now i gotta get them scanned put ill post them up as soon as possible. I'll get the icebox then, as for the body kit. I saw in the aero part section that they only have ww kit for 02. Will that fit on the 03 tl-s? I'm checkin if there are any exterior differences b/w both years. Another thing, do u guys know how to reduce the delay on the sequential shifting or theres nothin you can really do about it?

chochoX,

One other point to consider is that the WW kit needs to be painted. The Acura kit comes painted.

I put mine on 4 weeks after buying the car.

My car is bone stock, however after I get my nice big fat tax return check, I plan on getting a bunch of mods (headers, icebox, springs, and sways ... plus tint and a few extras like all season floor mats)

Go for it...I ordered the Intake from Tim and Comptech springs, sways & Exhaust from the dealer the day I picked the car up. They were installed a week later.

I'm thinking of getting the icebox but people now say that it feels weaker and the aem and injen CAI are better. I dont know which one I should go for anymore. do you guys know how much more hp the icebox outputs compared to the other cai? I'm gonna get a body kit later when I get the dough to pay for it. Yes... i'm on a budget...

icebox cranks out more power at the lower-mid RPM range while the AEM and injen throw it more at the peak high RPM side.... and the icebox is less likely to get water inside (though still possible)

and btw chochox... the 02 and the 03 have the exact same bodystyle so dont worry about if the 03 doesnt have parts listed... go with the 02 parts and its fine

HEy SLY TLS, You said you ordered your exhaust through the dealership? Was it comptech? So this way it didn't void your warranty right? Who's Tim? Does he have good price for intakes?

just one thing about modding...

once you start, u cant stop...

so right now you have 2 choices... either dont mod at all, stop coming to the forums otherwise ull get tempted, or go and mod the baby

Personally... I'm a "wheels" kinda guy... I've had bad experiences in the past with body kits...

IMO, I think the TL-S looks better lowered with 18s or 19s wheels (no body kit), That's all I've done... oh, and I painted the break calipers red, and they look awesome. That's just my opinion.

If you do go with aftermarket wheels, DO NOT trade the stock ones in... always keep them, AND the springs too, if you lower it. I live in Capo Beach, and I always hang out up in Costa Mesa, so if you ever want to check out my ride... just let me know....
