Red face 03 TL Air not cold

Hello all, of course, new to site and trying to figure out why my AC not blowing cold so as to save the coins by not taking it to my mechanic i use. Wife says heat not hot either. Ive research here on this site, not all threads, at which i may have overlooked and checked out youtube for info also and still coming up empty. What i've done so far is replaced the sub-wiring(harness) to the blower, one side was scorched. Check the corresponding connections related to the blower, they look good. Check the blower resister (pins 1 & 4) via reading resistance and it is with specs of 1.4 to 1.5 kohms. Checked the driver side door fuse of 7.5a and it ohm'd out. Checked the 3 relays on left bank of car under the hood and they ohm'd out good (put 12v on 2 of the male prongs and check for continuity on the other 2, plus i heard the contacts close when i added 12v). Blower motor was replaced about 4 to 5 years ago but it blows really good(when i had it out troubleshooting), the air door actuator moves when i move control from cold to hot (guessing it good), checked for codes via the climate control and it all good, no codes show up, and when i change from ac to auto settings via the climate controls, i can hear the compressor click on and the idling changes while running. Any suggestions, need to repeat any steps, comments? Somewhat lost on what else i may need to check? Tks for any input

Check the other motor opposite of the air door actuator.

Hoo hoo

Try assisting/moving the linkages with your hand to see if it's stuck in one place.

To confirm, mode motor on the right side of the dash just to the right of the blower motor? From some pics that i've seen, this looks like the air door acturator that is on the right side of the console and back towards the firewall.

No.

It's just to the right of the center console under the dash. If you were sitting in the passenger seat the motor will be above your left foot.

The mode motor is black in color and about size of a deck of cards.

Look under the right side dash and you will see it. You should be able to touch/remove/service it.

Actually, you should try taking the mode motor and the Blend Motor out and try regreasing them. Besure to use plastic compatible grease when servicing them.

While you're at it grease as much as the linkages a possible too. They dry up after years of service/neglect.

Blend Motor is just to the left of the center console. Pretty much almost in the same spot as the Mode Motor but on the left side of the car.

They are both held on by 4 Philips screws and connected with one electrical plug (may have a green lock tad if never been tough).

oh, ok, the mode motor is what Acura service department calls the air door actuator. Its to the left as an passenger and i didn't take it off but as i was changing the temperature control from cold to hot, i was watching it move from one side to the other so i was thinking it was good to go? The blend motor is what i need to check then. I will do as suggested with greasing them. With this in mind, i see the linkage and noticed how it moves from side to side or left to right, should i have the setting in the cold or hot position for easier access and getting the linkage off and on? tks agn

LOL, thanks for nothing. Oops, I got them backwards.

Mode motor is on the left side (#5).

BTW, always reference left/right in a car as if you're seating in the driver's seat.

The temperature is control by #6, cold-warm-hot.

#5 controls where the air comes out, defrost-top/center/bottom.

seems maybe my problem may be #6, no matter where the setting is for cold/hot, no change in temp? Although, if i go by movement when i go from hot to cold or cold to hot, i see it moving from below looking upward to it. I'll look at taking both of parts out and greasing them, it will be after church

One more thing. If there's no heat then you should check the heater valve.

That's attached to #8 on the outside next to the fire wall.

Have someone move the temperature from hot to cold or visa-versa while you are monitor the heater valve's movement from the engine bay. If not moving then spray some lube on the valve to free it up.

Good luck.

Well, decided to check the heat, its hot so the wife missed it with the heat not heating. I then remembered that i had A/C Pro down stairs that has a gauge on it that i used on my daughters vehicle and figured, why not, see if it was low. Sure enough, it was low. Had to go and buy another can to fill the unit up but she blowing out cold for now. 01acls, thanks so very much for assisting me. I'm still wondering if i may have a very slow leak or eventually some time in the future, the Freon goes low on all vehicles and have to fill it back up? Wow, all this researching and it took about 30mins? Well, i do have a better insight on how the climate control unit works on our acura. Tks agn 01acls for your help

Good for you.

FYI

It's a good idea to run the climate control in Auto Mode or atleast turn the ac on once in a while (once every couple weeks). By doing that it keeps the O-rings lubricated with oil so the O-rings doesn't dry out and shrink causing seepage of the freon as much.
