'02 TL-S wouldn't start...momentarily

Had an episode the other day that I had never seen before...I stopped to run an errand...Came back out 2-3 minutes later and tried to start the car, but it wouldn't start. It would turn over just fine, so the battery is OK, but it just wouldn't fire. After 4-5 tries, it finally started up. I was starting to think it wasn't gonna start.

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this? I have a bone-stock 02 TL-S with 47k miles. New tranny a month ago.

Thanks.

Mine has done that also a few times recently. You can tell the battery and starter is doing just fine, just the engine doesnt start. Its weird, but it always starts on the 2nd or 3rd try.

I also have an 02 TL-S and had this problem once a while back. I chalked it up to bad gas since it hasn't happened since. However, my car never starts immediately...it usually takes a couple seconds of cranking before it starts up.

That's weird because nearly the same thing happend with my stock (for now) 02 TLS. I tried to turn it over and it just stuttered and wouldn't completly turn over. So i turned the key back and tried again and it fired right up. This was also when the weather was starting to get cold, however since then the weather has gotten much colder and I havn't had any issues. I wonder if it was just a fluke thing?

Mine was turning over just fine. I let it turn like 5-6 times per attempt. So, in total, it musta turned over like 20 times or more.

Ya the temperature caused this to happen and on the threads on the parking break light...mine would come on randomly with the cooler weather. It gets cold here, well depends on what cold is (going to be 10 degrees F Wednesday morning)

This another Honda Trademark, cuz it has happened on an Accord that I owned and now on my TLS. It seems to happen during cold weather.

It's moisture in your gas. Happens when you get big change in temperature usually from warm to cold in my experience. Get a bottle of dry gas for a buck.

This happens to my 99 TL..I've been told that it could be the Idle Control Valve Sensor..it has nothing to do with bad GAS, or the cold, it just happens more in the cold because of the sesor. I've yet to fix mine, I know there are hundreds of people here that have this problem but no one had gone out to fix it..not one single person, they keep blaming it on cheap gas,,i've been using 93 all the way from BP Amoco. It's a problem with our TL,,they dealer is so dumb about it, the want you to create the problem in front of them otherwise they think everything is ok. I wish we would find the problem and everything make the change..

the Idle Control Valve Sensor.....correct by the dealer to diagnosis this problem....but, even after this fix, I still got misfires.

does anyone ever have any idling problems after starting ur car? where it seems to be at 500 rpm and feels like it's gonna die and sometimes does?

i do, but only when engine is warm (revs to 1250RPMs, immediately drops to around 500, and slowly creeps back to 750 after a several seconds). have yet to have anyone determine its cause, am wondering if this is normal for our cars.

when the idle does work after starting vechicle, it'll rev to 1500PRMs and gradually decrease down to 750 over a span of a few seconds (except when cold where the idle will be a slight bit higher).
