Thumbs up 00tl-p Vs. Altima V6

Stopped by the street races this saturday...

I was trying to avoid this guy when he pulled up in his new Altima with his friend. I tried not to look over but he rolled down his windows and was screaming at me. So I thought why not... I'll probably lose anywayz...

Dont they have like 250 horses stock???

Well anyways, I powerbraked it. I launched crazy and took a car lead on him immediately. I reached about 80 and he was almost 3 car lengths behind me so i tapped on the brakes and hit the "emergencies" LOL! He flew past me as if we were still racing...

I thought maybe he messed up and wanted to race again... Turned out he was hella pissed and was a poor sport... He ignored me as i pulled up next to him...

Not to burst your bubble but those new V6 (auto or manual) will run circles around a 2000 TL.

Auto V6 Altima = ~6.6 secs 0-60
Manual V6 Altima = ~5.9 secs 0-60

Maybe he stole the 3.5 badge and put it on his 2.5 car cause a 3.5 with a passenger can still beat a 00 TL.

well no matter how good the cars are, you still gotta have some good drives to drive them well. numbers are numbers, but if the driver didn't powerbrake, launched badly, wheel spin too much, he's not going anywhere

3 car lenghts at 80mph. If you believe that, then I bet you believed that Miss Cleo tells the truth.

From the numbers point of view, the Altima will out pace the TLP.

I don't doubt the race, but 3 car lengths by 80mph? Even with his mods, he's not running around 15.0 1/4mile time. He probably let off after a while because he thought he wasn't going to catch up.

In other words, he beat the driver, NOT the car.

Exactly, you beat the driver.

I think MT got 0-60 times of 6.7seconds on the TL-P. No other publishers have gotten that close so it might have been a fluke car. I think others have gotten at best, 7.4seconds. I think MT got one of those Experimental Header cars.

Most likely it was a 2.5s and you mistaked it for a 3.5 because a 3.5 the results would have been much different.

The Alty driver probably had a reaction time worth-a-sh!t. To dispel the myths if the guy traded 2.5 & 3.5 badges is the 3.5SE has dual exhausts, just like the TL setup.

Man, I really hate it when other people biotch about other people's post. I am just stating what I read from people that have the new Altima.

Wake up and realize that we do not have the fastest car out there. There will always be someone faster than you.

It's rather pointless to quote magazine times, especially when they differ so much. The f'n auto Altima was 7.2 secs 0-60 in Car and Driver a few months back, YES a V6 Altima. Still, a race between an Acura TL and new Altima 3.5 would be a very close one, IMO.

Are you sure it was a new Altima ???

j/k

I, too, think that a 3.5L Altima would beat a TL-P. However, where did this "experiemental header" thing come from? I've asked several times and no one's been able to clarify it for me.

You don't hear much talk when they get a subpar time for a Nissan. Must have been a fluke Altima.

Ok thats cool and all, but you shouldn't have posted "Not to burst your bubble..." That just sounded like you were there and his story didn't happen the way he said. It's nothing personal, but I wish that just like you stated those numbers freely, other people will be able to recount their kill stories without doubts or questions. After all, nobody else was there except the racer right?

It's cool!

Every race always comes down to the driver.

BTW, I can beat a Lamborghini if he accidently put it in reverse.
