Recently my 2000 TL has been difficult to get out of park. You really to work the gear shifter to get it into the gate.

Tonight it refused to go. After reading Owners manual I realize there is method of overriding with a screwdriver to get it in gear. They go on to say if it continues to do it to go to dealer.

I am wondering if this is the beginning of the BS tranny problems that a lot of others are experiencing. I am also experiencing an accelerator whine at about 60 mph that is present when you accelerate and dissapears when you let off the gas. Does anyone know if this is a tranny trouble symptom.

Any help would be appreciated.

the gear shifter go to the dealer. its not the tranny, but the actual shifting crap itself. the whining noise, cant help u there bro.

The gear shifter is a control by wire system so your problem is localized to the shifter itself - not a tranny issue. The whine could be torque converter or even tires. A whine has not been an early tell-tale sign that the tranny is going (look for the tach to rev up a few hundred rpms in between shifts as an early sign of failure). Whatever the case may be, if it turns out to be a tranny issue its covered by the warranty even if its not "THE" tranny failure so many of us have had (ie. the 3rd gear clutch pack failure).
