[need help] 01 Acura 3.2TL radio code or serial number

hi guys...i'm kinda new in this forum...
i need some help... i lost my radio code and don't wanna take
my car to the dealer just for the radio code.
i did do some research in this forum and found a sticker on the left side of the glove compartment with a series of numbers.
i called the dealer with that number assuming it was my radio's serial number. however, the service dept told me it didn't bring out the code with those numbers...
do u think the numbers i got it from the sticker <B0082****A> are the serial numbers? are your serial number pattern similar to mine??
i don't really wanna go and spend $75 for a BS....those 5 digit numbers are just giving me headache.

thanks...

**** --> indicates a 4 digit number

Did the previous owner give you the owner's manual ???
(Leather zip around folder). The code should be somewhere in there.

You can pull the Radio out and get the serial number....but that still will not get you the security code.
Your only choice is to go to your local Acura Dealer wth your title/registration...and have them look it up for you.
You've got to pay for it though.

Radio Theft Code

Open the hood, look on the left (driver side) fender well for the fuse box, open it, look on the inside of the cover for a small white paper decal with a number code.

Those are the series of numbers that you must enter to again use your radio.

Seems to be the location for codes for all recent Honda cars.

So your fux box cover has radio anti theft code on it???
And the fuse box should be on the passenger side, not the driver side. (Mine doesn't have any sticker inside the cover).

Your code won't be posted anywhere on your car from the factory. If it's posted somewhere on your car, the dealer or previous owner did it. It SHOULD be on a "security code" card included with your manual, warantee, etc. If you don't have it, then yes you'll have to remove the radio to pull the serial code, and the dealer can use it to look up your code if you show them proof of ownership. Whether you can pull the radio yourself depends on you. It's nothing more than a bunch of screws and clips. You should be able to find instructions somewhere on this site. Also, don't let any dealership charge you just to look up the number if you get the serial number yourself. Any decent dealership should do it for you no questions asked.

Just a possibility, on 2002+, you can press and hold buttons 1 and 6 and turn on your radio, when it is locked, and it will display your serial number so you don't have to pull the radio out. Might try that first....

One of my questions would be did you buy it from an Acura dealer? The reason I ask this is because at my dealership, when ever I get any service done, including oil changes, when they print out my invoice there is a section on it where it states engine type and then it reads radio code xxxxx after 3.2L and it is my real code. Now ofcourse you are in L.A. and I cannot tell you to go to my dealership(Montgomeryville Acura) right outside of Philly, but check to see if there are any old invoices for your car and see if it has that info.

Gee...

all these methods of looking here and there and holding buttons down would make it desirable to steal our radios....

You probably can't get around going to a dealer or getting the code from the previous owner.

Heh, heh, heh That's exactly what I was thinking, too! Anyway, I'm sorta glad it's a pain in the butt to track down a missing code... means that the dirtbags who steal radios may pick on easier targets!

Later,

I didn't say you could get the code by holding down buttons. You can get the SERIAL NUMBER, which will allow the dealer to look up the code. And yes, many dealers do put the security code sticker somewhere in the car. A thief isn't gonna spend the time looking for a security code sticker hidden somewhere in the car. Besides, who steals factory stereos!

stormeye Im new to the forum but i know alot about these cars. I am A tech a braman honda and i had the same problem. At work we have a dcs program which tells you all the info on the car. Give me the radio serial code and ill have a reply on wednesday with your radio code. If you take off the wood style cover the runs along the center console (the Right side one, or passenger side one) the code will be on the face of the radio. write back withthe serial number and I will reply asap telling you the radio code.

1)Assuming that this is your car and that you are the owner....i dont see any other alternative then goin to the dealer or trying every five digit code there is.

2)Its nice that someone here is willing to go look up the number for you.....but i ask this question .

What if someone here is just trying to get access to a radio which is stolen and needs the security code to make it work ?

3)There was one occasion where i disconnected the battery and i did not have the security code...i went to the dealer where i had purchased the car and asked them for the code and they tried to charge me the fee for looking up the radio also......and was from the dealer i purchased it at!.....well i just callled a dealership which i have a good relationship with where ive spent alot of money and they were happy to look up the code for me for free.

Let's see...just short of 100,000 combinations, and conservatively estimating 5 seconds to try each one, that would be 5.8 days, excluding restroom breaks, meals and sleep. 'course, you might go insane in the meantime...
