*Just bought a 1999 TL with NAV NEWB questions....

Hello Acurazine,

I just recently purchased a 1999 Acura TL with Navigation. The transmission did not fail, but was replaced by Acura last year because the previous owner was afraid something might. The car has had the 100K service done (timing belt, water pump, etc.). The Hard Drive unit was replaced with the DVD based navigation unit.

My main question is what else is next? I am taking the car into my local dealership to get an oil change and I wanted to ask what else should I get serviced or looked at (139900 miles)?

I was doing research on a transmission flush and I read that a transmission flush is NOT recommended but a Drain and refill is fine (but I read somewhere that it was best NOT to do it if your transmission was running fine).

Basically, what else should I get done as a precaution (or needed) when I go get my oil changed?

Thanks

If your car is uisng regular conventional oil then switch to Synthetic. But before you do that, seafoam the car ( Search seafoam ), change the injectors and get the oil change done. This will prolong the engines life even more. You don't have to go to the dealer, just go to a reputable local shop that changes oil and watch them change it to make sure everything is legit.

Congrats on the car BTW!

Damn I checked it out but for the price, that's basically the same as straight from Acura.

I was wondering, since I am looking to upgrade the disc, will they (Acura) come out with a new DVD Navigation disc soon? Is it annually? Don't want to buy one then a month later, the newer disc comes out.

Also, where is the best place online to purchase a Blitzsafe iPod adapter?

thanks

I ran regular DINO oil in 2 of my Honda Products for 300,000 on each car. Both engines still ran great at that mileage=YES 300,000. 4 cylinder's. There is no need to spend more $$$$ running synthetic in these engines unless you like spending more money. Your oil change intervals will be longer with synthetic.
