wheel adapter for PAX with 16" spare
When I purchased my 06 PAX equipped RL the dealer threw an RL spare from a regular RL in my trunk along with the jack, tools etc... The other day I tried the spare and the bolt pattern is too small. This is a 16" spare.
With that said I am assuming the PAX Bolt pattern is 5x120 and the spare is 5X114 (let me know if this sounds right)
As I move towards de-paxing very soon..
I was thinking to keep the spare and trying an adapter from 5x120 to 5x114 here since most adapters push the wheel out around an inch. Any thoughts on this?
OR toss one of the PAX wheels in as a spare with appropriate lugs.
thanks.

The appropriate spare is a 17x4 alloy wheel with a 5x120 bolt pattern. Sounds like the dealer made a mistake (ahem). The 5x114 could probably be drilled out to 5x120, but you would likely have to change the tire so that the outside diameter matches that of the other three wheels. I would go back to the dealer and try to get the correct spare.
Did they give you lugs for the spare?
Remember, the proper RL 17x4 alloy spare uses a flat seat with washer (same as the 17" OEM wheels), as opposed to the ball seat that the PAX uses.
You won't be able to throw a PAX in the back...it weighs 75 lbs, and neither it nor a standard 17 x 8 245/50-17 will fit in the trunk with a flat floor...they are simply too wide.
This is why they have the compact spare...purpose built this time...not just a weight saving device as many other cars where the spare tire well is designed to fit a full size spare.
