what wheels fit on rl?

The sticky only mentions few sizes
Im looking at some volks that are 18x9 45 offset
With stock size tires.
But im concerned with brake caliper clearance

Tough call without mounting the wheels on the car. Chances are that if they weren't specifically designed for the RL you'll need spacers to clear the calipers

it doesn't matter the 18x9 45 offset because those specific rims could have spokes that are too wide to clear the brake. You need to test fit ANY rim that you want to put on. I went through a few sets of rims all the same size and same offset until I found a couple that would clear the brakes

or you know, go back to the RL wheels

Would like some feedback on wheels that I am interested. Here are the details: 2002 BMW M3 wheels. Front - 19X8 / 5 X 120 bolt pattern / 41mm offset, Rear - 19X9.5 / 27mm offset. Based on the wheel information, will it work on my 08?

Im no pro but based on the dimensions I will say maybe. The problem lies in the design of the wheel spokes in regards to the RL front calipers. There is not a single person that can tell you with 100% accuracy unless they have already test fitted those exact wheels. I don't recall ever seeing 2002 M3 wheels on a RL. Based on my time viewing threads on this forum, I would put a small amount of money down saying they won't fit.

Studs should be 14 x 1.5mm on 5 x 120 bolt pattern.

Centerbore is 64.1mm.

I wouldn't recommend spacers.

its gonna be hard to sell those rlx wheels... im kinda stuck with them
10mm spacers with extended studs should clear the calipers
600 bucks just laying around i cant afford that

and space too
i have already 3 extra sets of wheels in my garage taking up space for different cars
im a wheel whore

I say get the RJ wheels on, bolt on bolt of, no extended studs or headaches. Then take your time unloading all the other stuff. Call it early spring cleaning. Take your time selling it so you can reap a higher dollar. Before you know it, it will all be gone and you will be rolling right along in style and performance.

I'm on a time limit. getting divorced lol. otherwise I would have no problem hoarding more sets

at one point I had 10 extra sets of wheels lol

for first 7 years that I owned a car I had one set of wheels

and then it happened... I bought another set of wheels
that's how I became a wheel whore

I fell into that trap and decided, might as well make a business out of it, lol. But seriously, its an addiction that will not end on its own. It's that never ending search for that one thing that will fulfill. I'll tell you how too beat it one day.

Correct. The only Acura wheels that clear the RL BBK are RL wheels.

some measurements for wheels to clear calipers

from brake disk to end of caliper(acura logo): 56-57mm
from brake disk to stock a-spec wheel spoke: 62-63mm
from brake disk to hub surface: 22mm
stock a-spec caliper to wheel clearance: 6-8mm
from hub surface to end of caliper: 34mm
from hub sueface to wheelspoke:40mm

the picture of the wheel is with 10 mm coins stacked i dont know if this is too much sticking out or not hard to tell without a tire. but i dont want to mount a tire only to find out that it sticks out too far... so tired of this car lol

anyone wants to buy an RL in seattle area? srusly. im so ready for a TSX

yea I almost ordered 20mm adapters but then decided to measure everything

with a 20mm they stick out way too far

and custom spacers are stupid expensive.. I don't understand why they charge so much more for custom spacers its a ripoff they still use same blanks and same specs they still have to do same work to make the spacer
its not like they make any extra work to make a 5x120 spacer instead of 5x114 just drilled holes in different spot

im just gonna drive it fro now until someone trades me for a TSX or buys it.. its a waste of time trying to modify a car that was obviously designed to be not modifiable by any means possible. roadblocks after roadblocks

You are gonna regret it when the wheels shimmy. Even with hubcentroc spacers, it's not gonna be as smooth as a one piece wheel. I had 20mm spacers on my Honda Pilot when I put fender flares and although it looked great and the spacers were custom and hub centric , I had a shake at 50mph.

yea theres just headache every time I want to do something to this car. I don't think its for me

not spending any more money on it just waiting for it to sell so I can buy a tsx and don't have to deal with this bullsheet and buy wheels that fit on many cars and plenty of aftermarket parts to choose from

I can just add some dynamat if I want a quiet ride..

RL > TSX

Not the easiest car to find parts for by a long shot but at the same time it's not impossible.

Changing cars is gone a be more expensive than buying a new set of wheels. But i feel you, it's disenchanting modding a car that doesn't like to be modded.

well heres the breakdown

i got a 2005 RL with an outdated stereo which is impossible to replace

i have damaged wheels whicn are impossible to find or to find a reasonably priced replacement thats within my budget

i have a v6 that guzzles fuel like a 6 liter V8 ( my friends gmc truck with a v8 has a better gas mileage than me)

99% of the car is not interchangeable with anything else

theres no option to add more power that doesnt cost more than the car is worth

vs TSX
i can pic from 100s of wheels available for sale for under 1000 bucks with tires that i can pick up locally

theres endless aftermarket options for a reasonable price that i can get fro that car

with a little bit of dynamat and few aftermarket electronics i can have almost every feature i have on RL.
this is not a luxury car like mercedes or lexus. honda really didnt think this through and thats why it sold so poorly
we all need to stop lying to ourselves saying how great the car is

im a honda fan for life but i dont lie to myself. honda really failed us as loyal fans on this car. to a point where it stopped selling RL

look at their webpage. the RL failed so hard that acura dont even mention the RLX on facebook anymore. they are pushing the TLX as their luxury sedan.
i would say the RL and RLX failed harder than del sol back in 90s

then they try to play it off like oh its ok we meant this car for a very limited customer base. we werent trying to make any money on this lol awkward...

since it was released gen1 the RL was always short of customer's expectations on what they though a luxury sedan should be...

before i owned this RL i was dreaming to get one for years. i kept seeing the tail lights drive by and i still love the design of the car but im not loving how they did it

then honda made another major mistake. they upgraded from the exterior that people actually liked but left the interior that people didnt want.
if they just made a standard a-spec kit and wheels on a 2005 body style the car would sell much better.

i mean honestly ron besides your wheels there really maybe like 10-20 of the wheel choices that would fit properly on this car.. and thats a hit and miss where you dont know until you try

You just have to be realistic with what you want out of the car. It's a heavy AWD sedan with plenty of features that you would more than likely hate not having in a TSX. Sure the gas mileage is brutal & if you drive majority city then your really SOL, ask me how I know..

100% of the car isn't interchangeable with any other Honda/Acura product (Minus sharing the same motor as the TL-S) & that's because it's not suppose to be. The RL is on a level above anything Honda/Acura has put out & if you really want to turn it into a performer you'll have to put in work and make some sacrifices, it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

As for getting a TSX anywhere near the level of sophistication that is the RL with dynamat & some electronics is laughable. Sure we're pushing over a decade old electronics & the fact that shit isn't easily upgraded doesn't help but it's not like the RL is lacking when it comes to audio. I've only had complements when I've had passengers in the car & my audio is 100% stock with a Bluetooth adapter.

You've been shitting on the RL since you started & your entitled to your opinion 100% but I'm more than sure the general consensus of RL owners is that they love the car even with the issues it may have (no car is perfect either).

Hope you get what you want out of the TSX if that's the route your gonna go.

PS. Bet you'll miss the adjustable headrests..
