TSW nurburgring wheel - kind of like AME FS-01.. 19" only 20lbs.. like them?
these wheels ... according to TSW.. fit our RLs.
they don't look nearly as cool as the AME FS-01, but they are "similar"..and they are light. a 19" wheel is only about $300 each. not cheap, but half the price of AMEs.... and they are LIGHT!.
what do you guys think?
will they really fit?
would they look good?
anyone do them yet?
19" +35 offset.
19" wheels weigh 20.5 lbs.
has anyone put these on an RL? I'd love to see pics..

tsw's website has a really cool wheel "configurator" that lets you see the wheels on the cars..and the car is angled...it is far superior to the thing tire rack has..excpet on the tsw website, it has far less cars you can view the wheels on.. the only acuras they jhave are the TSX and TL.. NO RL... bummer.
these look good. if/when I upgrade wheels, these may be the winners.

fyi - these wheels are 19x8.
the 8.5 with is ONLY if you go 20" which I willnot do, too big.
you can get it in 18" too.. 18x8.
the offset is +35. would that fit? their website says it will..but who knows if it really would??? woudl they look flush with the wheel wells or woudl th ey look sunken in or sticking out?
what tire size woudl go with this wheel in 18" or 19"??
these wheels + aspec or H&R + aspec lip kit = sweetness.

With 8 inch wheels, 245/40-19 is the max you can go, which is fine, because that is the recommended size. The only issue is the choice in rubber, far less than 245-45-18.
255/40-19 needs an 8.5 in min wheel width, and in the early days, many people went with that size because there just were not that many 245/40-19's available, and they were really expensive...
+35 on an 8 inch wheel is 20mm less than the stock +55 offset. So you are moving the wheel 20 mm away from the suspension and 20 mm closer to the edge of the fender, so that would say you are increasing the track by almost an inch on each side. People such as slawek65 have stuffed 9 inch wheels on this, and with his 45 mm offset, that extends the wheels 23 mm toward the fender. He reports no problems.
The picture below shows those wheels.
The extra 20 mm in itself should provide enough clearance for the brakes, but remember the drawing below. Offset by itself does not guarantee clearance. It is the design of the back of the spokes also...the yellow area is the area you need to clear for your brake calipers. Make sure your retailer gives you a fitment guarantee.
Of course, you need to get the proper centering ring, lug nuts and locks

i will have to look at the wheels as they are now - if it "sticks out" 20mm more...maybe it will still be w/in the wheel wells and look okay... I don't want wheels that stick out and look like I"ve got low rider / ghetto /m ini truck type wheels that jut out beyond the wheel wells. most cars seem to sit inside somewhat..even on my boxster..i put spacers on it so the wh eels filled up the wells and looked better..
i'll keep you posted.
i could go 18"s.... tire choice and price is also a concern.
i will put on PS2s or someother high perf summer tire if I go this route. I live near San Diego so I coudl care less about having all seaons... this car will never see snow and will see rain and that's it. we have an MDX with alls easons shoudl we choose to go into snowy territory with the kids..

If you look at the photo of the slawek65 car, those wheels extend 23mm which is 3 mm more than yours would. I think if you ask him, he may be able to post a picture that shows how much extension beyond the fender there is, if any.

well I have a set of tsw wheels. They are 19x8 40+ offset. This is on a first gen RL mind you and they do clear the calipers. I think =35 will probably fit well on your year RL, but it would be nice to see some 19x8 +35 pics as well.
Here is a pic of mine and caliper clearance.

Bump bump bump bump bump!
I love how every time I do a Google search for my car it brings me back here. I don't love how the search here sucks, but oh well.
Has anyone put these on an RL yet? They do make 18, 19, & 20 x 8.5" & 9". 19 x 8.5" is what I'm going to try and go with... some day. Buying a stupid house is stealing all of my car money. LOL.

I just put TSW Silverstones on, in 18x8.5, 35 offset. Plenty of caliper clearance and they look flush with the fender. I would post photos but that would be too helpful and interesting.

Are you sure that weight applies to the offset needed for the RL?
Weight will often go up in our offset as spokes on the outer edge need to be beefier versus spokes in the middle of a wheel ... or the rim thickness goes up a little. Got to carry that weight from the far edge of the wheel back.
Wheel manufacturers have a way of putting out the weight of wheels for the best offset.

The TSWs are very light. I don't remember the process used, but it is comparable to forged.

The TSW Nurburgring is made by a process called rotary forging. The wheel is spun and shaped as it is spun. It is supposed to be stronger than cast. I've had my eye on the Nurburgrings as well as a newer rotary forged TSW rim called the Interlagos. If anyone has actually used them on an RL, I'd really like to hear about it. Should give better performance because of the light weight.
