Suspension travel

As part of the test drive when I was looking to buy the RL my salesman had me hit a series of dips along the route to show how good the suspension was and that even on pretty harsh bumps it wouldn't bottom out the shocks or the car. Now it seems that just 6 months after purchasing the car this "feature" doesn't work so well anymore. In he past couple of weeks I've gone over speed bumps or dips in the road and had the car bottom out pretty easily. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? As part of my commute there is a road where I hit the same dip every morning and I'm curious as to whether this could be wearing out the shocks prematurely. Has anyone else had any sort of experience like this with the suspension?
