Spare tire size for ones with aftermarket rims

For those with aftermarket rims installed on their 2G RLs... what size of spare can you fit? I have 19's (ronjons) on mine and was curious if I have to look for specific spare size that would work with these 19's.

Thanks in advance.

Just take out the spare and compare its height to the rims on the car. It may be ok but check first. With careful driving you should never have to use it

The RonJon setup should be awfully close the OEM setup from an overall wheel/tire diameter standpoint. That being the case, I wouldn't imagine there would be an issue with the OE spare.

I see you have 2006 RL Tech Pkg that was originally equipped with Michelin PAX wheels and tires.

Maintain the same rolling diameter for the spare tire as the tires that you are using. That being said, a stock spare from a 2005-2008 non-PAX RL should be OK, assuming you stick to 245/40-19 tires on your Ron Jons.

You will need to get 5 new lug nuts because your PAX lugs won't fit, and depending on what lugs Ron Jon uses. If he goes with standard 60 degree acorn seats, those won't fit the 2005-2008 spares either. If you come across a 2009+ RL spare, those wheels should actually be able to take the ball (spherical) seat lugs that the the PAX wheels use).

Yes, I have 245/40-19 set up.
Do not have PAX lugs on my ronjons now. So looks like i need to start looking for OE spare. Any good place to get it besides dealer? Don't see much on ebay.

At some time, people were getting them through junk (ahem, auto part recycling) yards. As with everything, there appears to be an alliance of yards linked together through extensive database, and registering for specific part will yield several, almost immediate, email to you that they have or can get your part within days. I believe at that time, the going price for a spare was about $200. You will know that getting it through the dealer, if you can even get it will be close to 900. I think the wheel itself, which is a beautiful cast aluminum allow wheel (17x4) spray painted bright yellow, is over $500. At the time I got a temporary spare, it was just under $200 from the Tire Rack, who was the only place that would even sell such a tire to me. Dealers did not have/would not get them, and local tire stores would not sell them, saying they were only dealer supplied items. The rest of the items you need cost less than $100 from an internet Acura dealer.

The time honored spare tire parts list from this forum for 2006-2008 PAX equipped cars is:

* Trunk Spacer Assembly (Part number: 84542-SJA-A00) - a styrofoam insert
* Adapter - Spare Tire (74651-S2x-003) - a bracket to hold the tire to the floor
* Bolt - Spare Tire (74652-SDA-003 - a long bolt to tie the bracket to the floor
* Label - Spare Tire Adapter - Not really needed but cheap (74653-SJA-003)
* Nut - Wheel (90304-SHJ-A91) - Need 20 of them or 16 and a set of wheel locks [OPTIONAL DEPENDING ON YOUR SOLUTION...you may only need 5, or none depending on your situation and the spare wheel you end up getting]
* Disk Aluminum Wheel (this is the spare wheel that uses the nuts above) - 17x4T (42700-SJA-J51)
* You will need a valve to hold air and to use for inflation/deflation
*Spare Tire T155/70D17 - this has been a hard item to obtain, back in 2008, only Firestone and Goodyear made them, don't know about now.
